Gleyber Torres 2B | DET
Yankees' Gleyber Torres: To be examined Saturday
Torres (knee) was removed from Friday's game against the Blue Jays as a precaution, and he'll be re-evaluated Saturday, Matt Ehalt of Yahoo Sports reports.
Torres reportedly felt weakness in his legs, per Marc Carig of The Athletic, though the Yankees don't appear to be too concerned at this point. A better idea of his availability for the rest of the weekend should become clear prior to first pitch Saturday.

Gleyber Torres 2B | DET
Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Exits early
Torres was removed from Friday's game against the Blue Jays due to an apparent right knee injury, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.
Torres suffered the injury while sliding for a ball, and according to Wagner, his knee appeared to buckle. He initially managed to remain in the game but was later removed. Torres will be considered day-to-day until further notice.

Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT
Rays' Brandon Lowe: Ready for game action
Lowe (quad) will play in an instructional game Saturday and be evaluated afterward, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Lowe can't be sent on a rehab assignment with the minor-league season over, but he is at the point in his recovery where he is participating in game-like scenarios. Manager Kevin Cash said earlier in the week that Lowe was not ready to run at full speed just yet, but if he is able to clear that hurdle Saturday, it seems there's a chance he could return to the lineup before the regular season comes to a close.

Gleyber Torres 2B | DET
Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Sitting Thursday
Torres is not in Thursday's lineup against the Angels, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.
He is hitting .286/.311/.625 with five home runs and one steal in 14 games this month. DJ LeMahieu will start at second base while Gio Urshela starts at third base.

Michael Chavis 2B | CIN
Red Sox's Michael Chavis: Could be shut down
Chavis (oblique) is not responding well to baseball activity and could be shut down for the season, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
Given that there are just 11 games left on the schedule and Chavis is not responding well to increased physical tests, it seems highly unlikely that we will see him again in 2019. He's hit .254/.322/.444 with 18 home runs, two steals and a 33.2 percent strikeout rate in 95 games as a rookie.

Logan Forsythe 2B | LAD
Rangers' Logan Forsythe: Could be shut down
Forythe (ribs) could be placed on the 60-day injured list as a maneuver to create room on the 40-man roster, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Forsythe, who hasn't played in 10 days, becomes on option as the Rangers consider alternatives that would allow them to add catcher Tim Federowicz for the final days of the season. With Jeff Mathis (back) still unavailable, Federowicz would provide roster flexibility for manager Chris Woodward.

Jose Altuve 2B | HOU
Astros' Jose Altuve: Provides cushion Wednesday
Altuve went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.
Altuve's seventh-inning blast gave Houston a two-run cushion it would need to close out the Rangers, who plated a run the following frame. The home run was Altuve's fourth in the last eight games and gives him 29 for the season.

Luis Rengifo 3B | MIL
Angels' Luis Rengifo: Shut down with broken hand
Rengifo was placed on the 60-day injured list Wednesday with a left hand hamate fracture.
There were only 10 games left on the schedule, so once it was clear Rengifo would not return this year it made sense to open up a 40-man roster spot in the short term. The rookie infielder got as much playing time as we could have hoped for this year (406 plate appearances), but stole just two bases after stealing 41 in the minors in 2018. He was worth 1.1 fWAR in 108 games as a 22-year-old, which could set him up for similar playing time again in 2020. Rengifo is expected to have a somewhat normal offseason, but regaining power for the start of the 2020 season is a concern, Maria Torres of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT
Rays' Brandon Lowe: Running still not up to par
Lowe (quadriceps) took at-bats in an instructional league game Tuesday but a return prior to the end of the regular season remains uncertain, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. "Timing at the plate is there," manager Kevin Cash said. "Infield is there, but the running is not quite where we need it to be for his sake."
Lowe has actually beaten the odds somewhat in terms of his recovery, as he was initially expected to miss the remainder of the season after straining his left quadriceps in a rehab game Aug. 22. However, as Cash's comments indicate, he's made significant strides since that point yet remains at less than 100 percent in terms of getting around the bases. Lowe is slated to take Wednesday off before potentially participating in a simulated game Thursday and then another instructional league game Saturday.

Michael Chavis 2B | CIN
Red Sox's Michael Chavis: Could be activated soon
Chavis (shoulder, oblique) took batting practice on the field Tuesday, Bill Koch of the Providence Journal reports.
Chavis appears to be on the verge of activation and close to his first game action since Aug. 11. "He's hitting off the machine," manager Alex Cora said. "He took BP in the cage. If everything goes well he might be active over the weekend." This is a positive turn for Chavis as previous reports had the Red Sox considering shutting him down for the season.
