Michael Chavis 2B | CIN
Red Sox's Michael Chavis: Dropped from active roster
The Red Sox optioned Chavis to their taxi squad Sunday.
Chavis' stay on the 26-man roster lasted just one day after J.D. Martinez (illness) -- who was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Saturday -- cleared MLB's health and safety protocols ahead of Sunday's series finale in Baltimore. Since Chavis will still be part of Boston's five-man taxi squad, he could be in store for a call-up during the team's ongoing road trip if the Red Sox require another position player at any point.

Christian Arroyo 2B | NYM
Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Returns to bench
Arroyo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
Arroyo had started each of the previous four games at second base, recording three hits -- all doubles -- in 17 at-bats over that span. Hunter Renfroe's (general soreness) absence throughout the series in Baltimore has indirectly helped Arroyo pick up playing time, as primary second baseman Enrique Hernandez has been able to make starts in the outfield in place of Renfroe. Assuming Boston is back to full strength for Monday's series opener in Minnesota, however, Arroyo's path to regular work will likely close.

Amed Rosario 3B | NYY
Indians' Amed Rosario: Receives third straight start
Rosario will start in center field and bat seventh Sunday against the Tigers.
After starting in the outfield in the first two games of the series with lefties (Derek Holland and Tarik Skubal) on the hill for Detroit, Rosario will stick in the lineup for the finale, this time taking on a right-hander (Jose Urena). With a poor .267/.313/.267 slash line through 16 plate appearances this season, Rosario will likely need to show improvement to lock up a full-time role. At least for the time being though, he may have an edge over Jordan Luplow and Ben Gamel for playing time in the outfield.

Andres Gimenez SS | TOR
Indians' Andres Gimenez: Connects for two-run homer
Gimenez went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Saturday's 11-3 win over the Tigers.
Gimenez got a start against Tigers southpaw Tarik Skubal on Saturday. The 22-year-old Gimenez hit an eighth-inning homer off reliever Tyler Alexander. Through 18 plate appearances, Gimenez has recorded just three hits and one walks with five strikeouts and zero stolen bases. His homer was his first extra-base hit of the season. He's been Cleveland's primary shortstop this season with more than a just a platoon role with Amed Rosario at the position. That said, Gimenez hasn't done a whole lot at the plate yet.

Jose Altuve 2B | HOU
Astros' Jose Altuve: Records two more hits
Altuve went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's loss against the Athletics.
Altuve has hit safely in all but one game this season and has already recorded four multi-hit games, with three of those coming over his last five appearances. The second baseman has also plated runs in each of his last three contests and it's safe to say he's making a big impact at the top of the order for the Astros, hitting .351 with a .918 OPS over his first nine games.

Red Sox's Michael Chavis: Rejoins big-league club
Chavis was recalled from the alternate training site Saturday.
The 25-year-old will take the roster spot of J.D. Martinez, who was placed on the COVID-19 injured list while experiencing cold symptoms. Chavis should fill a bench role until Martinez is able to rejoin the team.

Santiago Espinal 2B | LAD
Blue Jays' Santiago Espinal: Recalled by Blue Jays
Espinal was recalled by the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Espinal was unable to break camp with the major-league club this year, but he'll join the big-league roster after Lourdes Gurriel was placed on the COVID-19 injured list due to vaccine-related symptoms Saturday. Since Gurriel will be eligible to return as soon as his symptoms subside, Espinal might not spend much time in the majors.

Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT
Rays' Brandon Lowe: Drives in three runs
Lowe went 1-for-5 with a three-run double in Friday's 10-5 win over the Yankees.
Lowe's bases-clearing double in the fourth inning blew the game wide open for the Rays, giving them an 8-5 lead. Through 15 at-bats prior to Friday, the 26-year-old had yet to drive in a run this season. He owns a .794 OPS through 27 plate appearances.

Amed Rosario 3B | NYY
Indians' Amed Rosario: Gets first start in CF
Rosario is starting in center field and leading off Friday against the Tigers.
This is his first start in center field this season, although he did appear in center field after entering as a pinch hitter back on April 3. His other two starts came at shortstop. Rosario is 3-for-8 with zero extra-base hits and zero stolen-base attempts in four games. If he can produce at the plate, there should be a spot for him most days in the field.
