Gleyber Torres 2B | DET
Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Launches first homer
Torres went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two strikeouts during Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Blue Jays.
With two outs in the eighth inning, Torres took the first pitch he saw -- a 93 mph fastball -- from Trevor Richards deep to center field, cutting Toronto's lead to 6-4. The home run was the lone bright spot for the middle infielder after he failed to get the ball out of the infield in his first three at-bats. Torres is currently in the midst of a four-game hitting streak, but he's also struck out four times over his last three games.

Owen Miller 2B | CHC
Guardians' Owen Miller: Crushes two homers in win
Miller went 3-for-5 with two solo home runs in Wednesday's victory over the Reds.
Miller went deep off Nick Lodolo in the top of the third inning before launching another solo shot in the eighth off Dauri Moreta. The long balls were his first two of the season and the multi-hit effort was his fourth straight. Miller has been red-hot at the plate, going 11-for-21 with seven extra-base hits and six RBI over the last four contests.

Jose Altuve 2B | HOU
Astros' Jose Altuve: Singles twice, steals
Altuve went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in a 3-2 loss Wednesday in Arizona.
Altuve singled to lead off the first and sixth innings but was left stranded in both cases. It was the second stolen base of the year for the seven-time All-Star. After recording only one hit in his first four games, the multi-hit performance is a hopeful sign moving forward. He has now reached base safely twice in consecutive games.

Enrique Hernandez SS | LAD
Red Sox's Enrique Hernandez: Another pair of hits
Hernandez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double, two RBI and two runs scored Wednesday against the Tigers.
Hernandez began the season hitless across his first four games, but he has now tallied multiple knocks in consecutive starts. He got Boston on the board with a solo home run in the third inning before delivering an RBI double one frame later. Hernandez remains a fixture as the leadoff hitter in a strong Red Sox lineup, which should help him rack up runs scored if he can continue to reach base consistently.

Adam Frazier 2B | LAA
Mariners' Adam Frazier: Idle against lefty
Frazier is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
The lefty-hitting Frazier is getting his first off day of the season while Seattle manager Scott Servais looks to play matchups against Chicago southpaw Dallas Keuchel. The switch-hitting Abraham Toro will replace Frazier as the Mariners' second baseman and leadoff man.
-
Tony Kemp 2B | MIN
Athletics' Tony Kemp: Sitting against southpaw
Kemp isn't starting Wednesday's game against Tampa Bay.
Kemp drew starts in each of the first five games of the season, and he went 7-for-21 with three runs, two RBI, two walks and a strikeout. Sheldon Neuse will take over at the keystone and bat seventh with lefty Shane McClanahan on the mound.

Whit Merrifield 2B | ATL
Royals' Whit Merrifield: Notches another steal
Merrifield went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Cardinals.
Merrifield has stolen a base in each of the last two games. His offense has also ticked upward in that stretch -- he went 3-for-8 with an RBI in that span. The 33-year-old speedster remains a fixture atop the Royals' lineup. He hasn't missed a game since the 2018 season, so it would likely take a significant slump for him to lose the leadoff spot in the order due to performance.

Ernie Clement SS | TOR
Guardians' Ernie Clement: Getting second start
Clement will start at second base and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Reds, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
He'll be filling in at the keystone for the lefty-hitting Andres Gimenez, who is getting a breather with southpaw Nick Lodolo on the hill. Gimenez isn't part of a strict platoon, but the righty-hitting Clement's ability to play multiple infield and outfield spots could allow him to pick up steady starts against southpaws, especially while he's performing well. Through three games, Clement has gone 4-for-8 with two walks, three runs and an RBI.

Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR
Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Takes seat Wednesday
Gimenez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Reds.
The 23-year-old will get a day off after starting each of the Guardians' last two contests and going 2-for-4 with a triple, a home run and three RBI Tuesday. Ernie Clement will enter the lineup at second base and bat seventh Wednesday against the Reds.

Andy Ibanez 2B | NYM
Rangers' Andy Ibanez: Hits in fourth straight
Ibanez went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to Colorado.
Ibanez plated Mitch Garver, who had walked earlier, to give the Rangers the lead in the second inning, but the bats were silent for much of the game. What had been one of the most prolific offenses early in 2022 managed just four singles. For Ibanez, it was his fourth consecutive game with at least one base hit and his third RBI.
