  • Sam Haggerty LF | TEX

Mariners' Sam Haggerty: Gets stitches, available off bench

Haggerty (forehead) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros but should be available off the bench, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

That being said, the Mariners would ideally prefer to stay away from Haggerty, who exited Saturday's win due to a cut on the left side of his forehead just above his eyebrow. According to Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle, Haggerty required eight stitches to seal the wound, so he could be in some discomfort when he puts on a hat or batting helmet. Assuming Haggerty is feeling well following the day off, he could contend for an everyday role in the outfield in the short term after the Mariners placed Julio Rodriguez (wrist) and Dylan Moore (back) on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to the injuries they sustained in Saturday's win.

  • Mauricio Dubon 2B | ATL

Astros' Mauricio Dubon: Sits after two straight starts

Dubon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Dubon will take a seat after he started in both of the past two games while going 3-for-7 with a home run and two walks. Though he might have overtaken Jake Meyers as the Astros' preferred option in center field, expect Houston to at least explore the trade market for an upgrade at the position prior to Tuesday's deadline.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Hammers seventh homer

Lowe went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Guardians.

Lowe's two-out, two-run blast in the bottom of the first inning staked the Rays to an early lead they wouldn't relinquish. The 28-year-old, who is batting .318 since returning from the injured list July 16, is starting at second base and batting third in Sunday's series finale.

  • Elvis Andrus 2B | ARI

Athletics' Elvis Andrus: Remains productive Saturday

Andrus went 1-for-4 with a ground-rule double and a stolen base in a loss to the White Sox on Saturday.

The veteran shortstop laced his 22nd double of the season off Liam Hendriks in the ninth inning and subsequently swiped third base to give the Athletics some momentary hope, but Oakland ultimately fell short of snapping a 2-2 tie. Andrus has been hitting consistently since late June, producing a .293 average and .838 OPS across his last 29 games and driving in 17 runs over that span thanks to a .316 average with men on base.

  • Owen Miller 2B | CHC

Guardians' Owen Miller: Scratched with forearm bruise

Miller (forearm) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

Miller had been included in the Guardians' initial lineup after starting at first base for Josh Naylor (ankle) in the previous two contests, but the forearm contusion that forced Miller's early exit from Saturday's 6-4 loss will ultimately keep him on the bench for the series finale. Naylor will also continue to sit Sunday, paving the way for utility man Ernie Clement to pick up the start at first base.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Blasts three-run homer

Gimenez went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a double in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Rays.

Gimenez accounted for most of the Guardians' offense Saturday with his sixth-inning blast, but they never got closer than one run in the loss. This was the infielder's first multi-hit effort in seven games. He's hit a steady .273 in July, though that's a bit under his season mark of .299 in 89 contests. He's added an .854 OPS, 12 homers, eight stolen bases, 49 RBI and 37 runs scored as a near-everyday starter at second base.

  • Nicky Lopez 3B | CHC

Royals' Nicky Lopez: Sitting against lefty

Lopez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

With southpaw Jordan Montgomery on the bump for the Yankees, the lefty-hitting Lopez will retreat to the bench for the second time in the series. Hunter Dozier will pick up the start at third base in Lopez's stead.

  • Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Starts second straight game

Arroyo will start at third base and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Brewers, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Arroyo returned from the 10-day injured list to start at second base in Saturday's 9-4 loss, going 3-for-4 with a triple and a run scored. He'll be in the starting nine again for a second straight day at a different position, but it's worth noting that the Brewers brought left-handed pitchers to the hill for both of the final two games of the series. Even so, Arroyo could still have a path to a regular spot in the infield against right-handed pitching for the foreseeable future, as top second baseman Trevor Story (wrist) will miss at least two more weeks while he recovers from a hairline fracture.

  • Blue Jays' Santiago Espinal: Retreats to bench

Espinal is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Espinal will get his second day off of the week while Cavan Biggio enters the lineup as the Blue Jays' second baseman and leadoff hitter. In his six starts since the All-Star break, Espinal has gone 5-for-22 with two walks, six runs and three RBI.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Collects three hits including homer

Semien went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 9-7 loss to the Angels.

Semien continues to fill in at shortstop with Corey Seager (lower leg) battling an injury. In Saturday's contest, Semien was the Rangers' best hitter and the only one to record multiple hits. The 31-year-old infielder has gone 13-for-47 (.277) in his last 11 contests. For the year, he owns a .241/.299/.402 slash line with 14 homers, 49 RBI, 55 runs scored and 18 stolen bases in 99 contests.
