  • Red Sox's Enrique Hernandez: Slump continues

Hernandez went 0-for-5 in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to the Rays.

Hernandez is one of several members of the Adam Duvall-less Red Sox slumping. He's mired in an 0-for-27 stretch and is batting .083 through 11 games. He has more errors at shortstop (five) than hits (three).

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Swats fourth homer

Lowe went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-2 win over the Red Sox.

He went back-to-back with Yandy Diaz (shoulder) in the fifth inning, accounting for half of the Rays' four homers on the night. Lowe appears to have put last season's back woes firmly behind him, and through nine games to begin 2023 he's batting .321 (9-for-28) with four homers, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored with an 8:8 BB:K.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Removed after tweaking hip flexor

Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters that Torres was removed from Tuesday's lineup against the Guardians after he tweaked his right hip flexor/groin area, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports. He went 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored before leaving.

Kuty notes that Boone did not sound too worried about the infielder's status going forward, and that he's not scheduled to undergo testing at this time. The 25-year-old infielder should be considered day-to-day for now with a good chance to return to the lineup Wednesday against the Guardians.

  • Edouard Julien 2B | COL

Twins' Edouard Julien: Receiving promotion Wednesday

The Twins plan to call up Julien from Triple-A St. Paul ahead of Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Julien will be joining the roster as a replacement for Joey Gallo, who will be placed on the 10-day injured list with a right intercostal strain. Coming off an impressive showing in the World Baseball Classic, Julien has posted a .934 OPS through 29 at-bats at St. Paul heading into Tuesday. Julien appears to have a bright future, but fantasy players should be cognizant that he won't be guaranteed everyday playing time to begin his MLB career.

  • Edouard Julien 2B | COL

Twins' Edouard Julien: Removed from Triple-A lineup

Julien was removed early from Tuesday's lineup for Triple-A St. Paul ahead of a possible promotion.

Julien was removed shortly after the Twins announced that Joey Gallo was headed to the injured list with a right intercostal strain. It's probably not a coincidence. Julien is one of the top prospects in the Minnesota system, and came into Tuesday's contest with a .934 OPS and two home runs over 29 at-bats. The question will be how much playing Julien will get in Gallo's absence if he does indeed receive a promotion.

  • Blue Jays' Whit Merrifield: Sitting out Tuesday

Merrifield is absent from the Blue Jays' lineup Tuesday against the Tigers.

He had started each of the last six contests but will sit this one out. Cavan Biggio will play second base while Daulton Varsho and George Springer handle the corner outfield spots.

  • Amed Rosario SS | NYY

Guardians' Amed Rosario: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Rosario is not in the Guardians' lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Yankees.

It's the first day off of the season for Rosario, as Gabriel Arias will get a start at shortstop. Rosario is batting just .204/.259/.224 so far, although he does already have three stolen bases.

  • Lenyn Sosa 2B | TOR

White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: Recalled from Triple-A

Sosa was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte by the White Sox on Tuesday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Sosa has crushed the ball for Charlotte in the early going this season, sporting a .448/.556/.828 batting line with a couple home runs. The 23-year-old is a candidate to see starts at second base with the big club while Elvis Andrus plays shortstop with Tim Anderson (knee) out.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Swipes bag Monday

Gimenez went 0-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 3-2 win over the Yankees.

It was small ball leading to the Guardians' first run. Gimenez reached on an error, stole second, got to third on a groundout and scored on a sacrifice fly. The second baseman is up to three steals while hitting .318 with a 4:11 BB:K through 11 contests. Monday was the second time he failed to record a hit so far.

  • Amed Rosario SS | NYY

Guardians' Amed Rosario: Records third steal

Rosario went 0-for-2 with a pair of walks and a stolen base.

The Guardians' Nos. 1-7 hitters failed to record a hit, but they managed seven walks and four steals. Rosario was a contributor in both areas. He's had some positive moments with three multi-hit efforts through 11 games, but the shortstop is slashing a meager .204/.259/.224 through 54 plate appearances. He's added three steals, three RBI and four runs scored, though he's yet to hit a home run.
