  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Unlikely to play Sunday

Rizzo (back) is unlikely to play Sunday against the Cardinals, according to Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger.

Rizzo did not rule out taking the field Sunday, but when asked if he would play, he responded, "realistically probably not." Rizzo's status will be known for sure when the Yankees release their starting lineup for Sunday's contest.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Takes seat Saturday

Tellez is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds.

Tellez mashed a homer in the series opener, his 22nd of the season, but he will sit Saturday in favor of Keston Hiura with lefty Nick Lodolo due up for Cincinnati. The 27-year-old Tellez has a .644 OPS against left-handed pitching this season.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

    Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Remains out

Rizzo (back) remains on the bench Saturday against St. Louis.

Rizzo was scratched from Friday's lineup due to lower-back tightness and evidently needs at least one more day to recover. DJ LeMahieu will handle first base in his absence.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Heads to bench

Diaz will sit Saturday against the Tigers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Diaz has gone hitless in his last four games but still owns a strong .280/.393/.389 slash line overall. Yu Chang will get the start at third base Saturday.

  • Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Tallies first career RBI

Montero went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored Friday against the Diamondbacks.

Montero has started each of the last four games, manning a combination of first and third base. He's collected five hits across 14 at-bats in that span -- three of which went for extra bases -- and he managed the first RBI of his career on a two-run single in the sixth inning Friday. Montero has been in the majors sporadically throughout the season and has maintained a .229/.260/.333 line across 50 plate appearances.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Mariners' Ty France: Drives in two in return

France (wrist) went 1-for-5 with a two-run single in an extra-inning loss to the Angels on Friday.

Seeing his first game action since last Saturday, France came through with a clutch game-tying single in the ninth inning to send the game into an extra frame. The 28-year-old was also hampered by an elbow injury in late June and early July, but he's still generated a solid .270 average and .789 OPS in the 18 games he's played since that absence.

  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Out of lineup

Cooper will not start Saturday against the Cubs, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Cooper returned from a wrist injury Wednesday and went 1-for-8 with a double and two RBI in his first two games back in the lineup. He'll get a rest Saturday, with Lewin Diaz at first base and Jesus Aguilar serving as the designated hitter.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: On base three times Friday

Hoskins went 1-for-2 with two walks, a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's 7-2 win over the Nationals.

The 29-year-old first baseman has gone yard in back-to-back games, extending a hot streak that has seen Hoskins slash .308/.379/.519 through 14 games since the All-Star break. On the season, he's batting .253 with 22 homers, 51 RBI, 58 runs scored and a stolen base through 105 contests.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Posts three hits in loss

Pasquantino went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Friday's 7-4 loss to the Red Sox.

Pasquantino had gone 3-for-14 across four games to begin August, with all of those knocks being doubles. He doubled his hit count for the month with a trio of singles in Friday's contest, making this his first multi-hit effort since July 30. The 24-year-old has had a relatively quiet start to his major-league career, slashing .234/.324/.347 with three home runs, six RBI, 10 runs scored and five doubles through his first 142 plate appearances. He's settled in as the Royals' primary designated hitter with some time at first base, though he shares that position with fellow prospect Nick Pratto.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Big performance in win

Tellez went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 5-1 win over the Reds.

Tellez's first-inning homer was all the Brewers needed in the win. More notably, he added his first stolen base of the year after drawing a leadoff walk in the third. Tellez hadn't attempted a steal since 2020, and he had just one successful theft in three tries in his career prior to Friday. No one will expect the 27-year-old to become a speed threat -- he's a power bat first and foremost. He's up to a career-high 22 homers with 70 RBI, 43 runs scored and a .240/.323/.483 slash line through 399 plate appearances.
