Matt Beaty 1B | KC
Padres' Matt Beaty: Clears waivers
The Padres outrighted Beaty to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.
He'll remain in the organization after producing a .333 OPS over 47 plate appearances in 20 games with San Diego before he was designated for assignment Saturday. Now that he no longer possesses a spot on the 40-man roster, Beaty may face an uphill battle to earn a promotion to San Diego before the season comes to a close.

Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE
Rangers' Kole Calhoun: Fades into reserve role
Calhoun is out of the lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader against the Marlins.
The lefty-hitting Calhoun's absence from the lineup against Marlins southpaw Trevor Rogers isn't surprising, but Calhoun also sat out the final two games of the Rangers' series with the Blue Jays over the weekend, when Toronto brought a pair of right-handed starters to the hill. With Calhoun having produced a measly .416 OPS since the All-Star break, he appears to have moved into a reserve role while the Rangers give youngster Josh Smith a look in their everyday lineup.

Wilmer Flores 1B | SF
Giants' Wilmer Flores: Extends deal with San Fran
Flores and the Giants agreed Monday on a two-year contract extension that includes a mutual option for the 2025 season, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Though Flores hasn't graded out well defensively during his time in San Francisco, he's been valuable as a plug-in player at three infield spots or at designated hitter and has fared at least a league-average level or better against both left- and right-handed pitching in three seasons with the Giants. The righty-hitting Flores profiles as a short-side platoon player when the Giants are at full strength, but since that's rarely been the case during his tenure in San Francisco, he's been able to handle a quasi-everyday role through each of his first three seasons. He leads the Giants in plate appearances (523) in 2022 and is slashing .235/.319/.414 with 18 home runs, 66 runs and 65 RBI while maintaining 9.6 and 16.6 percent walk and strikeout rates, respectively.

Wilmer Flores 1B | SF
Giants' Wilmer Flores: Snaps slump Sunday
Flores went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Cubs.
Flores had gone hitless in his previous 19 at-bats before delivering a two-run blast in the eighth inning. That homer stood as the Giants' margin of victory in this contest. He's up to 18 homers, 65 RBI, 66 runs scored and a .235/.319/.414 slash line through 523 plate appearances. Flores continues to be a versatile infielder, with most of his recent playing time coming at second base or designated hitter.

Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE
Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Belts 28th homer
Hoskins went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's 7-5 win over Washington.
Hoskins ripped a three-run shot in the fifth inning, his 28th of the year and second in the last three games after snapping a 20-game drought. The slugging first baseman improved his season slash line to .252/.341/.474 with 71 RBI and 57 extra-base hits through 138 games. Over his last 14 contests, Hoskins is hitting .316 while producing five multi-hit performances.

LaMonte Wade LF | HOU
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Riding pine against left-hander
Wade isn't starting Sunday against the Cubs, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Wade is on the bench for the second time in the last three games since left-hander Wade Miley is on the mound for the Cubs. Luis Gonzalez will start in right field and bat ninth.

Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Slugs two homers Sunday
Tellez went 3-for-5 with two home runs, one double, four RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Reds.
Tellez tagged Reds starter Justin Dunn for two homers. He now has 30 long balls on the season, good for top five among first basemen. The big day at the plate comes as Tellez was mired in a 4-for-26 slump with just one extra-base hit (a double) and no RBI.

Ty France 1B | SD
Mariners' Ty France: Wrist acting up again
France is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta after his left wrist appeared to be bothering him while he swung the bat during Saturday's 3-1 win, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.
The wrist issue previously kept France out for four consecutive games in late July and early August, but he doesn't appear to be dealing with any sort of major setback. According to Drayer, manager Scott Servais likely just wanted to give France the opportunity to rest his wrist for two days, as the Mariners have an open date in the schedule Monday. France is still expected to rejoin the lineup Tuesday against the Padres.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Gets breather Sunday
Goldschmidt is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.
Goldschmidt racked up just eight hits and hit .186 over his last 12 games, so he will get a day off for the first time this month. Albert Pujols will start at first base Sunday for the Cardinals.

Alfonso Rivas 1B | STL
Cubs' Alfonso Rivas: Triples, scores in loss
Rivas went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in Saturday's loss to the Giants.
Rivas, who was recalled from Triple-A Iowa at the end of August, has been seeing regular playing time at first base recently. Saturday marked his fifth start there over the last six games, and he responded with his second triple of the season. Rivas may sit against lefties moving forward, though it looks like he'll play regularly against righties.
