Vinnie Pasquantino 1B | KC
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Posts three hits in loss
Pasquantino went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Friday's 7-4 loss to the Red Sox.
Pasquantino had gone 3-for-14 across four games to begin August, with all of those knocks being doubles. He doubled his hit count for the month with a trio of singles in Friday's contest, making this his first multi-hit effort since July 30. The 24-year-old has had a relatively quiet start to his major-league career, slashing .234/.324/.347 with three home runs, six RBI, 10 runs scored and five doubles through his first 142 plate appearances. He's settled in as the Royals' primary designated hitter with some time at first base, though he shares that position with fellow prospect Nick Pratto.

Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Big performance in win
Tellez went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 5-1 win over the Reds.
Tellez's first-inning homer was all the Brewers needed in the win. More notably, he added his first stolen base of the year after drawing a leadoff walk in the third. Tellez hadn't attempted a steal since 2020, and he had just one successful theft in three tries in his career prior to Friday. No one will expect the 27-year-old to become a speed threat -- he's a power bat first and foremost. He's up to a career-high 22 homers with 70 RBI, 43 runs scored and a .240/.323/.483 slash line through 399 plate appearances.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 1B | TOR
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Contributes homer in comeback
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Twins.
Guerrero's second homer in as many games got the Blue Jays within a run in the seventh inning. He extended his hitting streak to 16 contests, and this was his eighth multi-hit effort in that span. The first baseman has gone 27-for-64 (.422) during the streak to lift his slash line to .289/.362/.515 with 23 long balls, 68 RBI, 62 runs scored and four stolen bases through 105 contests this year.

Kevin Padlo 1B | LAD
Mariners' Kevin Padlo: Designated for assignment
Padlo was designated for assignment Friday.
The 26-year-old infielder is a career .143 hitter with a 47.4 percent strikeout rate in 38 big-league plate appearances. Padlo slashed .215/.314/.326 in 37 games at Triple-A this year.

Gabriel Arias SS | CLE
Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Exits after HBP
Arias exited Friday's game for Triple-A Columbus after getting hit on the head by a pitch.
He was able to walk off the field under his own power but may have suffered a concussion. Arias has had a disappointing year at Triple-A, slashing .211/.272/.401 with eight home runs and four steals in 40 games.

Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY
Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Dealing with back tightness
Rizzo, who was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Cardinals, is dealing with lower-back tightness, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports.
He missed four games due to lower-back stiffness in early July, as Rivera notes. For now it seems like Rizzo is day-to-day with the issue, and the Yankees have enough depth to give him a few days to get right if necessary. Aaron Hicks was added to Friday's lineup after Rizzo was scratched.

Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY
Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Scratched from Friday's lineup
Rizzo was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Cardinals.
It's unclear why Rizzo was scratched about a half hour before first pitch. Aaron Hicks was added to the lineup.

Ty France 1B | SD
Mariners' Ty France: Back as expected Friday
France (wrist) is starting at first base and hitting second Friday against the Angels.
A wrist injury sidelined him for almost a week, but he was expected back for this weekend series. France hit .275/.338/.478 with three home runs in 17 games during July.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Three hits in twin bill
Goldschmidt went 3-for-8 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored across both games of Thursday's doubleheader versus the Cubs.
Goldschmidt was part of the Cardinals' seventh-inning rally in the matinee, and he got aboard three times in a less dramatic win in the nightcap. The first baseman has hit .351 (13-for-37) with six long balls in nine contests since the All-Star break. For the season, he's produced a .332/.413/.614 slash line, 26 homers, 82 RBI, 72 runs scored and five stolen bases in 99 games.

Kyle Manzardo 1B | CLE
Rays' Kyle Manzardo: On power binge in High-A
Manzardo has hit six home runs while batting .444 over his last 10 games for High-A Bowling Green and is now up to 17 long balls with a .326/.429/.633 batting line on the season.
Manzardo came into this season with concerns about his power potential, especially relative to the expectations at first base, but he's been quieting the naysayers. The combination of power and plate discipline is fantasy gold, and that's exactly what Manzardo has offered this year, as his walk rate (16 percent) isn't far behind his strikeout rate (17.2 percent). The 22-year-old will need to maintain this sort of performance at the higher levels of the minors, of course, but he could conceivably get that opportunity soon.
