Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Recalled from Triple-A

Dalbec was recalled from Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

He is not in the lineup against the Yankees but should be available off the bench. Dalbec should occupy the short side of a platoon at first base while also seeing time at designated hitter and as a pinch hitter. He hit .250 with five home runs and 14 strikeouts in 13 games at Triple-A this month.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Still out Thursday

Diaz (shoulder) is not in Thursday's lineup against the Blue Jays, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

This is the third game in a row that Diaz will miss with left shoulder soreness. Jonathan Aranda is leading off and manning the hot corner while Ji-Man Choi starts at first base and hits eighth.

  • Spencer Steer 1B | CIN

Reds' Spencer Steer: Sitting again Thursday

Steer (eye) isn't starting Thursday against the Brewers.

Steer was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against Boston due to an eye infection, and he'll remain out of the starting nine for Thursday's series opener against the Brewers. Donovan Solano will take over at first base and bat fifth.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Not starting Thursday

Flores isn't in the lineup Thursday against the Rockies.

Flores is getting a breather after he hit .429 with a home run, a double, four RBI and two runs over the last five games. Joc Pederson will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup.

  • LaMonte Wade LF | HOU

    Giants' LaMonte Wade: Starting Thursday

Wade (hamstring) is starting Thursday against the Rockies.

Wade was removed from Wednesday's game against Colorado due to hamstring tightness, but he'll start in left field and lead off a day later. Over his last three games, the 28-year-old has gone 4-for-9 with a double, five runs, two walks and a strikeout.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: Not in Thursday's lineup

Cron (hand) isn't starting Thursday against the Giants, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports.

Cron exited Wednesday's matchup against San Francisco after being hit by a pitch, and he's been diagnosed with a left hand contusion. It doesn't appear to be a serious concern as X-rays came back negative, but Michael Toglia will start at first base and bat fifth Thursday.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Reaches base four times

Flores went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Rockies.

Flores reached base in each of his first three at-bats and then came around to score the game's final run in the ninth. The Giants infielder had a .384 OPS through the first 14 games of September, but he's turned things around over the past five games by going 9-for-21 with three multi-hit games. He's also collected four RBI and scored two runs during that five-game stretch.

  • Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Homers in loss

Montero went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Wednesday night's loss to the Giants.

Montero came in to replace C.J. Cron in the bottom of the sixth after the latter was hit by a pitch and had to leave the game. The 24-year-old utility man would go on to score the Rockies' only run of the game with a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth. Montero is now hitting .231 in the month of September with just two hits in his last 20 at-bats (.100).

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Blasts two-run homer

Naylor went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 8-2 victory over the White Sox.

Naylor homered off righty reliever Jose Ruiz with one out in the seventh to build the Guardians' lead to 8-1. The first baseman has struggled to find hits in his last 10 games, turning in a .189 average over 37 at-bats; however, the 25-year-old has two home runs, six RBI and six walks during that same span.

  • LaMonte Wade LF | HOU

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Exits with hamstring tightness

Wade left Wednesday's game versus the Rockies with hamstring tightness, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Wade just returned from being held out of the lineup for three games with a side injury, and it appears he's picked up another injury in a season full of them. He went 2-for-3 with two runs scored prior to his exit, lifting his batting average over the Mendoza Line for the first time since Aug. 17. He should be considered day-to-day ahead of Thursday's series finale in Colorado.
