Mountcastle was removed from Wednesday's game against the Cardinals with an apparent shoulder injury, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Mountcastle seemed to tweak his left shoulder during the first inning of Wednesday's game, but he remained in the game for two more innings before being pinch hit for by Ramon Urias. The Orioles should provide more information on Mountcastle's injury in the near future, but the fact he was able to play through it for a while is a good sign that the damage likely isn't too severe.

O'Hearn is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

O'Hearn has an .867 OPS through eight games in September and will sit Wednesday versus lefty Drew Rom. Ryan Mountcastle will handle first base while Adley Rutschman rests his legs as Baltimore's designated hitter.

Abreu is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Athletics, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Abreu had started each of the last 11 games but will begin this one on the bench. Jon Singleton will man first base for Houston.

Votto is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Tigers.

Votto started the first two games back from the injured list, but he'll take a seat in this one. Christian Encarnacion-Strand is at first base and Hunter Renfroe will occupy the designated hitter spot.

Wade is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Guardians, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

It's an all right-handed hitting lineup for the Giants (including switch hitter Patrick Bailey) against lefty Logan Allen. J.D. Davis is at first base and Casey Schmitt is at third.

Calhoun is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

It will be only the second time since Aug. 24 that Calhoun has been out of the lineup. Jose Ramirez is getting a start at designated hitter Wednesday, with Tyler Freeman filling in at third base.

Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Orioles.

Goldschmidt welcomed Baltimore starter John Means back from Tommy John surgery with a first-inning solo shot. This was Goldschmidt's second homer over 10 games in September and his 24th long ball of the year, though he's hitting just .200 this month. The small slump has him down to a .272/.363/.452 slash line with 74 RBI, 82 runs scored, 26 doubles and 10 stolen bases through 140 contests overall.

Cron (back) took batting practice Monday and remains hopeful to return from the 10-day injured list before the end of the season, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Though Cron is now partaking in baseball activities for the first time since landing on the 10-day injured list Aug. 18 with low back inflammation, the Angels will likely proceed cautiously with the 33-year-old, who has dealt with recurring back problems all season. Prior to landing on the IL, Cron had been serving as the Halos' everyday first baseman, but with the team having faded from playoff contention, he's unlikely to reclaim a major role once activated. Instead, look for rookie Nolan Schanuel to continue serving as Anaheim's top option at first base the rest of the way.

Diaz (groin) is in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Minnesota.

Diaz had to exit Tuesday's contest after a foul tip resulted in a testicular contusion. He's made a quick recovery and is feeling well enough to give it a go for Wednesday's afternoon tilt.

Alonso went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

The first baseman launched a Ryne Nelson fastball into the second deck in right-center field in the fifth inning, giving Alonso his fifth long ball in the last eight games. Matt Olson has run away with the home run and RBI crowns in 2023, but Alonso is second in the majors in both categories, sitting tied with Shohei Ohtani (oblique) at 44 homers while his 105 RBI are currently one ahead of Kyle Tucker and two clear of Mookie Betts.
