Spencer Torkelson 1B | DET
Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Tough May continues
Torkelson went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays and is batting just .135 this month.
Torkelson wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire with his .228 batting average through the end of April, though he at least had a respectable .786 OPS. This month, however, has seen Torkelson's offensive production really fall off. His OPS is down to .496 in May, and the first baseman has already struck out 26 times in 15 contests during the month. Torkelson still offers plenty of power potential, but his prolonged slumps make him hard to trust from a fantasy perspective.

Cubs' Michael Busch: Homers in loss
Busch went 1-for-4 with two walks and a two-run home run in Sunday's 9-8, 10-inning loss to the White Sox.
Busch got the scoring started for the Cubs, lifting his fourth home run of the season two batters into the game against Erick Fedde. The slugging first baseman got off to a bit of a slow start this year following his 2025 breakout campaign, but he's turning things around lately. Busch is now batting .315 in May with two homers and 15 RBI across 16 contests.

Reds' P.J. Higgins: Contract selected
The Reds selected Higgins' contract from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.
The 33-year-old was designated for assignment by Cincinnati last Wednesday, but he'll get another look in the majors with Jose Trevino (hamstring) landing on the injured list. Higgins went 2-for-10 with a walk and an RBI over six games during his previous stint in the majors this season. He'll serve as the backup catcher to Tyler Stephenson while Trevino is sidelined.

Red Sox's Willson Contreras: Swats clutch homer
Contreras went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run Saturday in a 3-2 win against Atlanta.

The veteran first baseman turned the game around, crushing a two-run blast to give the Red Sox a one-run advantage that ultimately held up as the final score. Contreras had been struggling mightily coming into Saturday, batting .103 (3-for-29) across his previous nine games. With the two hits, he logged his first multi-hit performance since May 3.

Over that stretch, Sheets is batting a robust .538 (7-for-13) with two homers, four RBI, a stolen base and five walks while striking out just once. Marlins' Christopher Morel: Idle Saturday
Morel isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays.
Morel will step out of the starting nine Saturday after going 0-for-4 during the first game of the series Friday. His absence will open a spot in the lineup for Javier Sanoja to bat seventh while starting at third base.
