  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Goes deep in loss

Vaughn went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two RBI and a walk in Sunday's loss to Detroit.

Vaughn knocked an RBI double in the first inning before ripping a solo shot in the third. He ended a 12-game homerless drought, though he did hit .311 during that power slump. After hitting just .188 in July, Vaughn has gone 23-for-72 (.319) with 10 extra-base hits in August. For the year, he owns a .246/.300/.406 slash line with 15 home runs and 57 RBI.

  • Triston Casas 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Triston Casas: Another two-hit day

Casas went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Casas notched his eighth home run of the campaign Sunday, tagging Merrill Kelly for a solo shot in the first inning. The outing marked the first baseman's fifth multi-hit performance in eight games. He's 11-for-30 with two home runs, five RBI and five runs scored during that stretch.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Absence continuing Sunday

Mountcastle (wrist) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The 27-year-old will sit for the third straight game as he continues to manage a wrist injury. Mountcastle will have Monday's team off day to aid in his recovery ahead of Tuesday's series opener against the Dodgers. Emmanuel Rivera is manning first base in Sunday's series finale for Baltimore.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Not in Sunday's lineup

Hoskins is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the A's.

Hoskins will hit the bench after a run of six straight starts, during which he went 3-for-22 with a homer, five RBI and five runs. Jake Bauers is starting at first base and batting cleanup in the series finale at Oakland.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Braves' Matt Olson: Goes yard Sunday

Olson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Nationals.

Olson provided Atlanta's lone run in the game, tagging Jacob Barnes for a solo homer in the sixth inning. The first baseman has 22 home runs this season and is slashing .226/.309/.420 with 58 runs and 66 RBI in 547 plate appearances.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Padres' Luis Arraez: Receiving Sunday off

Arraez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

It's likely just a maintenance day for Arraez, who started the previous seven games and hit .233 (7-for-30) with one home run during that span. Manny Machado will rest his legs as the designated hitter while Donovan Solano starts at third base against New York lefty Jose Quintana.

  • Matthew Batten 3B | ATL

Padres' Matthew Batten: Outrighted to Triple-A

Batten cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

The Padres removed the 29-year-old from the 40-man roster Friday, and he'll remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. Batten has appeared in just one big-league game this season and has a .247/.325/.348 slash line in 454 plate appearances with El Paso.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: On bench Sunday

Goldschmidt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

Goldschmidt has a .631 OPS over 70 at-bats in August and will take a seat Sunday for the second time in St. Louis' past four games. Alec Burleson will shift to first base while Matt Carpenter receives a turn at designated hitter.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Should return Tuesday

Schanuel (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Schanuel is on the bench for a second straight game due to a back issue, though he's expected to rejoin the lineup Tuesday in Detroit following Monday's team off day. Niko Kavadas will receive another look at first base while Taylor Ward serves as the designated hitter.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Reds' Ty France: Taking seat Sunday

France is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Though the Reds have two everyday spots available in the lineup with Jake Fraley (knee) and Jeimer Candelario (toe) landing on the injured list, France has still found himself squeezed out of the starting nine on occasion. He'll be on the bench for the second time in three matchups against right-handed pitching, as the Reds are making room in the lineup for new acquisitions Dominic Smith and Amed Rosario at the expense of France. Since being acquired by Cincinnati in late July, France is slashing .239/.284/.433 with three home runs, seven RBI and seven runs through 21 games.
