  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | SD

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Heading to bench vs. lefty

O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox.

The Orioles are facing a left-handed starter (Sean Newcomb) for the first time this season, so the lefty-hitting O'Hearn will retreat to the bench in the series opener. Heston Kjerstad will serve as the Orioles' designated hitter in place of O'Hearn, who went 6-for-15 with two doubles, two walks and two runs in the team's season-opening four-game series in Toronto.

  • Triston Casas 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Triston Casas: Off Monday against lefty

Casas will not start Monday in Baltimore, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

The top four in Boston's order hit a combined .138 (9-for-65) during a season-opening series that saw the Red Sox lose three of four games in Texas. Casas, who was 1-for-16 with seven strikeouts, will get the day off against Baltimore lefty Cade Povich, the first southpaw starter the team will face this season.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Diamondbacks' Josh Naylor: On base five times

Naylor went 2-for-2 with three walks, a double, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in Sunday's 10-6 win over the Cubs.

Naylor delivered the game-winning knock with an eighth-inning double as part of an eight-run rally. The Diamondbacks haven't missed Christian Walker's production at first base yet; Naylor has hit in all four games thus far, going 6-for-15 with two doubles, three RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base.

  • Kyle Manzardo 1B | CLE

Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Pops second home run

Manzardo went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in Sunday's win over Kansas City.

Manzardo ripped a two-run blast off of Sam Long in the fifth inning, which proved to be the game-winning hit. Manzardo enjoyed an impressive opening series, going 5-for-11 with a pair of long balls and six RBI. He posted a .999 OPS this spring and is already paying dividends to those who bought in on the offseason breakout hype.

  • Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Smacks third homer

Soderstrom went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Mariners.

Soderstrom continued his red-hot start to the season Sunday, smacking an opposite-field homer off Bryan Woo that would stand as the A's lone run in the game. The 23-year-old Soderstrom now has two hits in three of his first four games to start the year, including a pair of home runs on Opening Day. He's quickly solidified an everyday role, going 7-for-15 with four extra-base hits.

  • Nate Lowe 1B | BOS

Nationals' Nathaniel Lowe: Homers again in win

Lowe went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double and an additional run scored in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Phillies.

Lowe extended the Nationals' lead to five in the sixth inning with a 421-foot blast to dead center off Aaron Nola. The 29-year-old delivered a stellar opening series, racking up six hits, two homers and five RBI against one of the league's top pitching staffs.

  • Jared Young 1B | NYM

Mets' Jared Young: Goes on minor-league IL

Triple-A Syracuse placed Young on its 7-day injured list Thursday due to an unspecified issue.

Young wasn't known to be dealing with an injury when the Mets optioned him to minor-league camp March 9, but the 29-year-old first baseman looks like he'll have to wait a bit to make his Syracuse debut while he tends to an undisclosed issue. After being granted his release from the Cardinals organization in the middle of the 2024 season, Young finished out the campaign in the Korea Baseball Organization with the Doosan Bears, producing a 1.080 OPS over 169 plate appearances.

  • Michael Busch 3B | CHC

Cubs' Michael Busch: Sitting against southpaw

Busch is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

The lefty-hitting Busch will get his first game off of the season while the Diamondbacks send a southpaw (Eduardo Rodriguez) to the hill for a day game after a night game. Justin Turner will fill in for Busch at first base.

  • Pavin Smith RF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Pavin Smith: On bench versus lefty

Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

The lefty-hitting Smith will take a seat for the second game in a row while the Cubs deploy another left-handed starter (Matthew Boyd). Ketel Marte will get a day out of the infield and will replace Smith as the Diamondbacks' designated hitter.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | TEX

Mariners' Rowdy Tellez: Sitting against lefty

Tellez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

The left-handed hitting Tellez will hit the bench for the second time in three days while the Athletics send another southpaw (JP Sears) to the hill. Donovan Solano will check in for Tellez at first base.
