Tellez is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Royals, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca.

Tellez struck out five times over his last two games, so manager Charlie Montoyo decided to hold him out for just the second time in 12 games. Tellez played first base regularly the last couple weeks while Justin Smoak was on the injured list, but Smoak was activated Friday, and the two players figure to split the action at first base and in the designated hitter spot like they did earlier in the season.

Cabrera (suspension) is starting at third base and batting sixth Friday at Tampa Bay.

Cabrera served his three-game ban this week and rejoins the lineup for Friday's series opener. The time off could help the 33-year-old, since he was 2-for-28 with 15 strikeouts in his last eight games before serving the suspension.

Hiura was recalled by the Brewers on Friday.

Hiura spent most of the month of June with Triple-A San Antonio despite posting an .865 OPS over his first 17 big-league games, but with fellow infielder Travis Shaw failing to turn things around at the big-league level, the Brewers decided it was time for the two to swap spots. Hiura started all but one game when he was up earlier in the season, and with Shaw in the minors, he figures to play second base nearly every day for the Brewers moving forward.

Olson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss at Angel Stadium.

Olson crushed a 422-foot homer off Griffin Canning in the fourth inning. The 25-year-old now has seven homers in June and 14 on the season. Not bad, considering he missed over a month while on the injured list. Overall, Olson is hitting .244/.328/.540 with 27 RBI and 26 runs scored over 176 plate appearances.

Calhoun went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and another run scored in Thursday's victory over the A's.

Calhoun gave the Angels the lead with a two-run shot off Tanner Anderson in the second inning. He was also intentionally walked for the first time this season, which resulted in another run scored for the outfielder. Calhoun's streakiness has made him a tough player to trust, but when he's hot, he's able to provide power. Overall, the 31-year-old is hitting .230/.323/.471 with 17 home runs, 48 runs scored and 40 RBI.

Freeman went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Cubs on Thursday.

Freeman's homer, a 366-foot opposite-field line drive, came off Tyler Chatwood in the third inning. He had a chance for more heroics when he came to bat with the tying runs on base in the ninth inning, but his smash down the first base line was snagged by Anthony Rizzo and turned into an out. The All-Star first baseman is putting together one of his best seasons as a pro and is now up to 22 homers this season, only one behind his total last year. His season slash line sits at a robust .312/.396/.598.

The Brewers will promote Hiura from Triple-A San Antonio, Robert Murray of The Athletic reports.

Hiura has earned his second stint with the big-league club this season, after he racked up a .281/.333/.531 line across 69 plate appearances in Milwaukee earlier in the campaign. To make room for him on the 25-man roster, the Brewers optioned Travis Shaw to Triple-A San Antonio, which should clear the path for regular playing time at second base for Hiura.

Smith will start in left field and bat fifth Thursday against the Phillies, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Smith will be making his fourth consecutive start and looks poised to continue seeing regular action against right-handed pitching, at least while he's wielding a hot bat. The 24-year-old has contributed solo home runs in each of the past three contests and maintains a 1.044 OPS in 128 plate appearances this season. The Mets can live with his limitations in the outfield so long as he continues to rake.

The Twins officially recalled Wade from Triple-A Rochester ahead of Thursday's game against the Rays.

Wade will head to the big leagues for the first time in his career with the Minnesota outfield having been gutted by injuries lately. Though Max Kepler (elbow) will rejoin the lineup Thursday, Eddie Rosario (ankle) is viewed as day-to-day and could require a trip to the injured list if he doesn't heal as anticipated over the weekend. The Twins will give utility man Luis Arraez a spin in left field in Rosario's stead Thursday, so Wade looks like he'll serve as a fourth outfielder while he's up with the big club.

Diaz (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day injured list and will start at third base and bat cleanup Thursday against the Twins, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

The Rays optioned reliever Hunter Wood to Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move, clearing the way for Diaz to rejoin the roster after a week-and-a-half-long stay on the IL. Now that he's healthy again, Diaz -- who owns an .865 OPS over 248 plate appearances this season -- should reclaim an everyday gig at either corner-infield spot, bumping Joey Wendle back into a utility role as a result.
