Votto is not starting Wednesday against the Brewers.

Votto has started the past 14 games for Cincinnati, going 8-for-51 with an 8:13 BB:K during that stretch. He'll get what appears to be a routine day off Wednesday after the veteran first baseman went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts before he was ejected from Tuesday's game against the Brewers. Mike Moustakas is manning first base in his absence, with Freddy Galvis at second base and prospect Jose Garcia at shortstop.

Cabrera (foot) is starting at third base and hitting third Wednesday against the Phillies.

Cabrera is dealing with some soreness stemming from fouling a ball off his foot a couple of days ago, but it's apparently mild enough to play through. The veteran infielder is slashing .288/.368/.515 with four home runs and 11 RBI through 18 games this month, and with the slumping Carter Kieboom sent to the Nats' alternate training site, Cabrera should be the everyday starter at the hot corner.

White went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI singles, a walk and a run in a win over the Padres on Tuesday.

White didn't have any big hits, but he still continued a welcome surge after seeing his average bottom out at .104 on Aug. 12. The rookie has subsequently hit .321 (9-for-28) with three doubles, four home runs, 12 RBI, three walks, a stolen base and six runs over the following nine games, displaying some of the same proficiency at the plate that was evident during his successful 2019 campaign at Double-A Arkansas. White's 41.0 percent strikeout rate naturally has a long way to go, but the 24-year-old encouragingly posted his first whiff-free performance during that stretch in Tuesday's contest.

Cabrera fouled a ball off his foot a couple days ago and is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

He went 2-for-4 in Tuesday's game, so perhaps it's something that he thought he could play through but he is now experiencing enough pain to potentially sit out Wednesday. The Nationals' lineup should be posted early in the afternoon to clarify his status.

Diaz is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Orioles.

This will be his fourth day off in the last 15 games. He is hitting .404/.509/.553 with two home runs and more walks (10) than strikeouts (seven) over that stretch. Yoshi Tsutsugo will start at the hot corner and bat fifth.

Wade is starting in center field Wednesday for the second day in a row against a right-handed pitcher (Mike Clevinger).

He hit sixth Tuesday and is batting eighth Wednesday. Wade and Jake Cave have been the two center field options with Byron Buxton (shoulder) on the injured list. Cave has 11 strikeouts and zero walks in 34 at-bats over his last 10 games, so Wade is getting a chance to show what he can do. Wade hasn't been much better, striking out four times with zero walks in nine at-bats since getting recalled, but he does have a stellar plate discipline track record in the minors. Buxton could return as early as next week.

Solano went 1-for-6 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.

Three Giants recorded three or more hits in this game and while Solano also accounted for one of the team's 14 knocks, he delivered the biggest one -- his two-run shot in the bottom of the 11th inning carried San Francisco to a huge win over their division rivals. It was Solano's second homer of the season, but the second baseman is still hitting an impressive .351 with a .896 OPS this year.

Walker went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Rockies.

Walker launched his second homer in as many games and has eight hits (four extra-base hits) in the last 18 at-bats. The first baseman, who launched 29 home runs over 152 games last season, has just three over 30 games in 2020. He's one of several Diamondback hitters whose power stroke has fallen off. Arizona ranks 26th in MLB with 26 home runs.

Votto went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts before he was ejected from Tuesday's game against the Brewers.

Votto wore the Golden Sombrero, was none too happy about it and let the home-plate umpire know. He had a point about a few of those called strikes and did not do anything that would warrant further discipline. The soon-to-be 37-year-old has been in a bad way at the plate going back several weeks now; Votto is 8-for-56 (.142 average) in his last 16 games.

O'Hearn went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals.

O'Hearn has struggled to generate run production, especially lately. He entered Tuesday with one hit, two RBI and zero runs scored in his last 18 at-bats (seven games). O'Hearn ceded a start at first base to Hunter Dozier last weekend, but the Royals clearly have not lost all patience, so expect to continue seeing O'Hearn in the heart of the order against right-handed pitching.
