He also struck out three times, but Alonso's fifth-inning slam was the decisive blow in the game. It was the slugger's first homer of the season and the first bases-loaded blast of his career. Through three games to begin the year, Alonso's slashing .286/.333/.571.

Hoskins went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and a walk in a 4-2 victory over the Athletics on Saturday.
The Phillies were clinging to a 2-0 lead Saturday when Hoskins led off the sixth inning with a solo shot to left field. The long ball was his first of the campaign and accounted for his third RBI in two games. Hoskins is 4-for-6 with a pair of walks so far in 2022.

Rizzo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 4-2 victory against Boston.
For the second straight game, Rizzo kickstarted the Yankees' offense with a long ball, as he drove a two-run homer to right field in the fourth inning Saturday to tie the score 2-2. The veteran first baseman has gone 2-for-7 with four RBI through his first two games.

Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Smashes first homer of 2022
Mountcastle went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a run in Saturday's loss to the Rays.
Mountcastle opened the scoring for his team in the third inning, crushing a first-pitch slider from Drew Rasmussen over the fence for his first homer of the year, driving in his teammate Jorge Mateo in the process. He later added a single in the eighth inning to produce his first multi-hit contest of the campaign. Although the Orioles are unlikely to challenge for a playoff spot this season, Mountcastle is coming off of strong 2021 campaign in which he batted .255 with 33 homers and 89 RBI and he'll look to replicate his success in 2022.

Ellis started in each of the first two games of the regular season and went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. Sergio Alcantara will start at the hot corner and bat eighth Saturday.

France was a thorn in the side of Minnesota pitching from his No. 2 spot in the order, helping make up for Adam Frazier's empty box score out of the leadoff spot. The 27-year-old is primed for a breakout season after already producing an impressive .291 average and .813 OPS across 152 games in 2021.
