Giants' LaMonte Wade: Ramping up baseball activities

Wade (knee) has been throwing and hitting off a tee and will begin a running progression this week, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Wade is on the injured list with knee inflammation to begin the season, so seeing him ramp up his baseball work less than a week after Opening Day is a good sign. The 28-year-old should advance to live at-bats and running the bases before long if he continues to progress with no issues.

  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Late lineup addition

Cooper (wrist) will bat third as the Marlins' designated hitter Monday against the Angels, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Cooper suffered a left wrist contusion Sunday and was originally absent from Monday's lineup, but he'll instead have a prime spot in Miami's order. Avisail Garcia will take a seat on the bench with Cooper joining the starting nine.

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Not starting Monday

Cooper (wrist) will sit Monday against the Angels, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Cooper was hit in the left wrist by a pitch Sunday against San Francisco and was forced to leave the game. His X-rays came back negative, but he'll sit for at least one day. Jesus Aguilar will be the first baseman Monday, with Avisail Garcia resting his legs as the designated hitter.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Not in Monday's lineup

Flores is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Flores started twice at third base and once at designated hitter through the first three games of the season, and he'll be the odd man out Monday. He's 1-for-10 with a double, an RBI and a walk and should continue to have a regular role in the lineup with Tommy La Stella (Achilles) and Evan Longoria (finger) on the injured list.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Gets Monday off

Dalbec is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Dalbec started at first base in each of Boston's first three games, going 2-for-10 with a solo home run and two walks. Travis Shaw will fill in for Dalbec in the series opener in Detroit.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Could return Friday

Naylor (lower leg) could be back as soon as Friday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Naylor opened the year on the injured list after missing most of last season with a major leg injury, but it looks as though he's only slightly behind schedule. He'll be evaluated after making rehab appearances Tuesday and Wednesday and could be cleared to return after a minimum-length absence.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Day off Monday

Torkelson will sit Monday against the Red Sox.

Torkelson has gone 0-for-8 with six strikeouts through his first three MLB games. He'll get a day to clear his head Monday, though it will take far more than three games for there to be reason to seriously worry about his playing time. Harold Castro will take over at first base.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Sitting against lefty

Tellez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.

The lefty-hitting Tellez will take a seat for the second time in the Brewers' first four games while the Orioles bring a southpaw (Bruce Zimmermann) to the hill. Keston Hiura will once again fill in for Tellez at first base in what could prove to be a platoon arrangement between the two players.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Expected back Tuesday

Gurriel (personal) is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

Gurriel was placed on the paternity list Friday, and he missed the remainder of the team's opening series against the Angels as a result. Given that the team is off Monday, he is in line to return to the lineup at the next opportunity. Gurriel should start at first base while hitting fifth in the order.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Cracks first home run

Dalbec went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, HBP and a walk in a 4-3 win over the Yankees on Sunday.

Dalbec took reliever Clarke Schmidt deep to right in the sixth inning to give Boston a 4-3 lead that would eventually be the final while also being hit by a pitch in the first and walking in the eighth. The 26-year-old has yet to deliver on his significant potential but should have every opportunity to do so this season in a fearsome Boston lineup.
