  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Gets day off

Votto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Due to the quick turnaround for the series finale, Votto will head to the bench for the first time since May 29, ending a streak of 15 consecutive starts. Derek Dietrich will fill in at first base for Votto, who is getting on base at a .373 clip in June but still hasn't hit for much power (two home runs, five doubles in 51 at-bats).

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Pirates' Josh Bell: Hits solo blast

Bell went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in a 5-4 loss against the Tigers on Tuesday.

The solo bomb was Bell's 20th of the season, but unfortunately, he grounded into a double play with two runners aboard and only one out in the ninth. Bell is still a candidate to hit 40 long balls and/or 50 doubles, but he has cooled off considerably in June. He is 8-for-37 (.216) with two homers and nine RBI in the last 10 games. Overall, Bell is batting .319 with 50 extra-base hits, 66 RBI and 53 runs in 276 at-bats this season. He possesses a 1.040 OPS.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Puts power on display

Alonso went 4-for-4 with two walks, a home run, two doubles, three runs scored and three RBI on Tuesday against the Braves.

Alonso reached base in each of his plate appearances while also notching three extra-base hits, highlighted by his two-run homer in the fourth inning. It was his 24th long ball of the season, and he's outpaced by only Christian Yelich across the majors. Alonso has shown no signs of slowing down of late, homering four times in his past 10 games. He's hitting .274/.359/.624 across 301 plate appearances for the campaign.

  • Braves' Freddie Freeman: Goes yard Tuesday

Freeman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Tuesday against the Mets.

Freeman took Jacob deGrom deep in the final frame to record his 20th homer of the season. He's been getting on base at a prolific rate for much of the campaign, and that hasn't changed of late. In his last seven games, Freeman has racked up five multi-hit performances as well as two home runs, nine runs scored and 10 RBI. He has a very strong .313/.402/.597 line across 331 plate appearances.

  • Braves' Freddie Freeman: Plates two in series finale

Freeman went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, two RBI and two runs in Sunday's 15-1 win over the Phillies.

Freeman lifted his season average to .311 with another two-hit effort, his fourth in his last five starts. With the likes of Ronald Acuna and Josh Donaldson also in the midst of heaters at the plate, Freeman has benefited from a surge in run-scoring and run-producing opportunities. He's already compiled 19 RBI and 14 runs in 15 starts this month.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Breaks through with homer

Goldschmidt went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run, two runs and two walks during a 4-3 victory against the Mets on Sunday.

His first-inning blast snapped an 0-for-12 stretch. This was also Goldschmidt's first homer since June 1. He has 13 homers this season, which isn't a bad total, but Goldschmidt only has four long balls since April 23. He is slashing a disappointing .262/.353/.433 with 19 extra-base hits, 29 RBI and 42 runs in 301 plate appearances this season.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Cubs' Anthony Rizzo: Swats game-winning homer in ninth

Rizzo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Dodgers.

The first baseman didn't have any success against Walker Buehler but he stepped up against Kenley Jansen in the ninth inning, blasting a cutter down the right-field line for his 19th homer of the year. Rizzo has gone yard in consecutive games and three of the last six, pushing his slash line on the year back up to .279/.389/.563.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Blasts 23rd homer

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in an 8-7 win over the Cardinals on Saturday.

Alonso got things started early for the Mets as he sent an 85-mph changeup from Michael Wacha to the third deck in left field. The 24-year-old rookie has a .263/.348/.610 slash line with 23 home runs and 53 RBI.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Bombs 12th homer

Walker went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in a 10-3 victory over Washington on Saturday.

Walker connected for a solo homer leading off the second inning to tie the game 3-3. He's been slumping in May and June, going 30-for-141 to lower his average by 55 points. Walker now sports a .252/.330/.479 slash line and has driven in 27 runs in 242 at-bats.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Receives rare rest

Goldschmidt is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.

Goldschmidt will sit for just the second time all season. He's been in a slump lately, hitting .167/.239/.214 over his last 11 games. Matt Carpenter will slide over to first base in his absence, with Yairo Munoz entering the lineup at third.
