  • Keston Hiura 2B | LAD

Brewers' Keston Hiura: On fire to open second half

Hiura went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, an RBI and a stolen base in Monday's loss to the Braves.

Hiura has come out of the gates hot in the second half, going 9-for-16 (.563) with five extra-base hits, four RBI, and two steals in four games. The player Hiura replaced in the Brewers' starting lineup, Travis Shaw, is getting things going at the Triple-A level, but Hiura doesn't seem to be in any mood to swap spots again. He now owns a .915 OPS through 31 big-league games.

  • Braves' Freddie Freeman: Clubs 25th homer

Freeman went 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Monday's 4-2 win over the Brewers.

His fourth-inning shot was all the offense Max Fried and the Atlanta bullpen would need on the night. Freeman only has two hits in 15 at-bats since the All-Star break, but both of them have left the yard, giving him 25 homers and 74 RBI through 94 games to go with his .302/.388/.582 slash line.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Pirates' Josh Bell: Batting average falling

Bell went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts in Monday's 7-0 loss to the Cardinals.

He's slashing .219/.315/.511 with nine homers and 32 RBI in 162 plate appearances since the end of May. The Pirates have hinted at giving Bell a breather in the coming days. The first baseman has appeared in 92 of 93 games and hasn't missed a game since June 4 against Atlanta. Bell leads the majors in doubles (31) and RBI (84) but he's cooled off after his breakout start.

  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Dodgers' Matt Beaty: Promoted to big club

Beaty was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Beaty has been promoted to take the place of Chris Taylor, who was diagnosed with a broken left forearm Monday. Beaty has pieced together a .278/.297/.407 slash line with two homers and 17 RBI in 37 games this season for the Dodgers.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Clubs 17th homer

Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs overall in a win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Goldschmidt's 416-foot blast to left in the third inning extended the Cardinals' lead to 4-0 and served as his third round tripper of July. The extra-base hits are finally starting to materialize for the 31-year-old, after a largely frustrating first half during which he made plenty of hard contact but saw relatively modest return. Factoring in Sunday's production, Goldschmidt already has five extra-base hits (two doubles, three homers) in nine July games, just one fewer than the six extra-base knocks he generated during all of June.

  • Diamondbacks' Wilmer Flores: Moving rehab to Reno

Flores (foot) will transition his rehab from the rookie-level Arizona League to Triple-A Reno, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Flores played four games at the rookie level, going 7-for-13 with four doubles and a triple. Next up, the 27-year-old veteran will move up to Reno to face more advanced pitching and could be an option to rejoin the Diamondbacks in time for their upcoming homestand, which starts Thursday against Milwaukee. His return creates an infield logjam for manager Torey Lovullo, who will have four bodies for first, second and third base: Flores, Eduardo Escobar, Christian Walker and Jake Lamb.

  • Braves' Freddie Freeman: Slugs clutch home run

Freeman went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in a victory over the Padres on Sunday.

After both teams were held scoreless for seven innings, Freeman delivered the first runs of the game with a three-run blast to right field in the top of the eighth. The long ball was the only extra-base hit for either team in a game that was dominated by pitching. Freeman has struggled a bit in July, hitting only .200 (7-for-35), but remains one of the elite hitters in the game with his overall .302/.387/.576 slash line, 24 home runs and 71 runs batted in.

  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Giants' Donovan Solano: Drives in two runs

Solano went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in Sunday's 8-3 win over Milwaukee.

It was just the second multi-RBI game of 2019 for the veteran infielder. Solano is still struggling to get every-day playing time, but he owns a respectable .307/.337/.398 slash line in 95 plate appearances.

  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Goes deep in loss

Cooper went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Mets.

Cooper sent a solo shot off Robert Gsellman in the ninth inning in a brief comeback attempt that ultimately fell short. He's gone deep three times in the last four games, raising his OPS to .883 in 221 plate appearances this season.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Doubles twice in loss

Hoskins went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and two runs Saturday in the Phillies' 4-3 loss to the Nationals.

After reaching base three times, Hoskins now carries a .404 OBP into Sunday's series finale, when he'll again be occupying the cleanup spot for the Phillies, per Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic. Though the Phillies are just 3-5 through the first eight games of July, Hoskins hasn't been at fault for the team's struggles. Over that stretch, he's mashed six doubles and a home run to go with a 10:7 BB:K.
