  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Padres' Josh Naylor: On bench Tuesday

Naylor is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs.

Naylor owns an unremarkable .242/.309/.355 slash line over his last 21 games, hitting just one homer over that stretch. Wil Myers gets the start in right field Tuesday.

  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Dodgers' Matt Beaty: Not in lineup

Beaty is not starting Tuesday against the Orioles, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Beaty sits for the second time in three games after starting each of the previous four. David Freese starts at first base with lefty Ty Blach on the mound for the Orioles.

  • Diamondbacks' Wilmer Flores: Provides lone run

Flores went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Mets.

Flores' fifth-inning blast was all the Diamondbacks' offense could muster against Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom. For Flores, the homer was his ninth and first off a right-hander in 2019. He was recently promoted from being a starter against left-handed pitching only to playing every day.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Padres' Ty France: Transitioning to utility role

France will take on a utility role moving forward this season, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

France made four consecutive starts at second base to begin September but has not been in the lineup in any of the four subsequent games. He's likely to start Tuesday, though manager Andy Green indicated that France is being looked at in a "bounce-around role" that includes playing only periodically. Green also stated that the decision is largely due to the recent play of Greg Garcia, who has drawn walks in five of his last 12 plate appearances.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Goes deep twice

Alonso went 2-for-4 with two solo homers in Monday's 3-1 win over Arizona.

Alonso's storybook rookie season keeps getting better as he's up to 47 homers and 107 RBI this season. He carried the offense again Monday with homers in the first and fifth innings. Alonso owns a .968 OPS and has a shot at reaching the 50-homer mark this month.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Pirates' Josh Bell: Catches another breather

Bell will head to the bench for Monday's game against San Francisco.

Bell is in line for another day off after also taking a seat for Sunday's series finale. Jose Osuna will get the nod at first base and bat cleanup.

  • Keston Hiura 2B | LAD

Brewers' Keston Hiura: Set for batting practice

Hiura (hamstring) will take batting practice Monday, Sophia Minnaert of Fox Sports Wisconsin reports.

Hiura has been out with a hamstring strain since the end of August. His return date remains unclear, but he appears to be trending in the right direction.

  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Dodgers' Matt Beaty: Slugs ninth home run

Beaty went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a double in Sunday's victory over San Francisco.

Beaty notched the Dodgers' first hit in the game, a two-run shot in the fourth inning to break a scoreless tie. The rookie has filled a valuable role as a platoon player and pinch hitter this season, slugging .286/.335/.500 with nine homers, 18 doubles and 45 RBI in 236 plate appearances.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Padres' Ty France: Benched for third straight

France is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

After producing three home runs in the first two games of September, France proceeded to go 0-for-7 over the subsequent two contests and looks to have lost hold of the primary second base job in the process. He'll be on the bench for the third day in a row while Greg Garcia draws another start at the keystone.

  • Keston Hiura 2B | LAD

Brewers' Keston Hiura: Resumes light running

Hiura (hamstring) took part in light running on the field Sunday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

It's the rookie's first meaningful on-field activity since he strained his hamstring Aug. 30 and landed on the 10-day injured list. Hiura still has a few more hurdles to clear in the recovery process, but he's on pace to return from the IL before the regular season draws to a close.
