  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Blasts off again Saturday

Torkelson went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run and three RBI in Saturday's 6-5 loss to Atlanta.

Torkelson went deep for the second straight day against Atlanta, giving him 31 home runs for the season, which ties his career high from 2023. The slugger has been locked in lately with a 1.110 OPS and three long balls across his last 10 games. Detroit has seven games left in the regular season, giving Torkelson a good shot at setting a new high-water mark in home runs.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Lifts 11th homer

Schanuel went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Rockies.

This was Schanuel's second game back from a bruised left wrist that landed him on the injured list in late August. He's gone 3-for-9 with two extra-base hits since his return, so it looks like he's fully healthy for the final week of the season. He's produced a .268/.355/.391 slash line with 11 homers, 52 RBI, 63 runs scored and five stolen bases over 127 contests in his second full campaign.

  • Astros' Christian Walker: Sitting amid slump

Walker is not in Saturday's lineup against the Mariners, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Walker is hitless with nine strikeouts in his last four games, so he's getting a day to clear his head. Victor Caratini gets the start at first base, batting fifth.

  • Nick Kurtz 1B | ATH

Athletics' Nick Kurtz: Mashes 33rd homer

Kurtz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-3 win over the Pirates.

The rookie slugger took Mitch Keller deep in the fourth inning to kick off a rally from an early 3-0 deficit. Kurtz is up to 33 homers on the season, tying him with Jose Canseco for the second-most in franchise history by a rookie behind Mark McGwire's legendary 1987 season, when he set a then-MLB record with 49. Like those two former A's stars, Kurtz seems like a lock for the AL Rookie of the Year Award given his .293/.387/.620 slash line through his first 109 games.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Launches homer No. 30

Torkelson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-1 loss to Atlanta.

He spoiled a potential shutout bid for Bryce Elder by taking the right-hander deep in the fourth inning. The long ball was Torkelson's 30th of the season, the second time he's reached that milestone in his career, and he's been on a tear in September as Detroit tries to hang onto its lead in the AL Central. Over his last nine games, the first baseman is batting .371 (13-for-35) with two homers, three RBI and six runs.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | TEX

Rangers' Rowdy Tellez: Contributes clutch homer

Tellez hit a two-run homer in a pinch-hit appearance during Friday's extra-innings loss to the Marlins.

The Texas slugger launched a titanic 425-foot, two-run blast off Miami reliever Michael Petersen in the 10th to tie the game at 3-3. Tellez has fallen out of an everyday role in Texas, as Jake Burger has overtaken the starting role at first base. Through 43 total games with Rangers, Tellez is now batting .270 (27-for-100) with five homers, 17 RBI and 12 runs scored since joining the club in mid-July.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Homers in win

Mountcastle went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 4-2 win over the Yankees.

Mountcastle got the scoring started with a solo shot in the second inning before adding a sacrifice fly in the sixth. While the 28-year-old has hit safely in five of his past six contests, he's gone just 9-for-43 with two extra-base hits in September. For the year, he's slashing .256/.292/.372 with six home runs, 33 RBI, 32 runs scored and three steals across 336 plate appearances.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Socks four hits

Pasquantino went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored in Friday's 20-1 rout of the Blue Jays.

The Royals' first baseman collected his 29th and 30th two-baggers of the season and posted the third four-hit performance of his career. Pasquantino didn't even need to play all nine frames to accomplish the feat, as he was lifted in the seventh for Randal Grichuk when Kansas City was up 10-1. The 27-year-old Pasquantino is enjoying the best season of his four-year career, producing a .269/.326/.476 slash line with 30 homers, 106 RBI and 67 runs scored across 645 total plate appearances.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Mariners' Josh Naylor: Mashes 20th homer

Naylor went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-0 win over Houston.

The big fly was the fourth of the month for Naylor, who in the process achieved the first 20-homer, 20-steal campaign of his career. Remarkably, the first baseman has recorded 16 pilfers in just 48 games since joining the Mariners. For the season, Naylor has been a five-category fantasy stud with a .289 batting average, 20 round trippers, 87 RBI, 78 runs scored and 27 thefts through 141 contests.

  • Logan Davidson 1B | LAA

Angels' Logan Davidson: Optioned to Triple-A

The Angels optioned Davidson to Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

Davidson will head down to Triple-A to make room for Nolan Schanuel (wrist) to be activated from the injured list. Since being called up Sept. 4, Davidson has gone 4-for-22 (.182) with a home run and 10 strikeouts.
