  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Takes seat Monday

Voit is not in the lineup Monday against the Twins, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Voit will take a seat for Monday's series opener after starting the previous 10 games, slashing a healthy .306/.375/.667 with four homers and six RBI over that stretch. Greg Bird will draw the start at first base in this one, hitting seventh.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Retreats to bench

Gurriel is not in the lineup Monday against the Tigers.

Gurriel has started the previous seven games, slashing .269/.286/.538 with two homers and six RBI over that stretch. Tyler White will start at first base in this one, with Evan Gattis serving as the designated hitter.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Athletics' Matt Olson: Two more hits in win

Olson went 2-for-4 with a double and a run in a win over the Rangers on Sunday.

Olson followed up Saturday's solo home run with his first multi-hit effort of September, extending his modest hitting streak to four games in the process. The young slugger has already driven in and scored four runs apiece over the first eight games of the month, and he's slashing .253/.323/.453 across 189 post-All-Star-break plate appearances while modestly improving his strikeout rate to 22.8 percent from a 25.2 percent first-half figure.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Brought back from DL

Abreu (abdomen) was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list Monday.

Abreu, who underwent surgery to relieve testicular torsion last week, has been cleared to rejoin the White Sox after successfully working through baseball activities on the field over the weekend (including running, taking live batting practice and fielding groundballs). The veteran first baseman wound up spending close to three weeks on the shelf. Abreu, who is hitting .272/.331/.491 with 22 homers and 78 RBI through 122 games this season, should immediately reclaim his role as the team's starting first baseman.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rays' C.J. Cron: On base twice in win

Cron went 1-for-4 with an RBI double and a walk in a win over the Orioles on Sunday.

Cron's first-inning two-bagger opened the scoring on the day by plating Tommy Pham. The 28-year-old continues to split time at first base with Jake Bauers and also log occasional starts at designated hitter, and he's opened September by hitting safely in three of his first four games. Cron has enjoyed a standout season on the power front, as his doubles (26), home runs (26) and slugging percentage (.487) are all career-best figures.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Takes part in fielding, running Sunday

Abreu (abdomen) fielded groundballs and ran in the field prior to Sunday's game, Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Sunday's activity comes after Abreu took live batting practice Saturday, signalling the slugger is ready to return. "We are not trying to rush him,'' manager Rick Renteria said. "We want to make sure he feels really good about where he's at, and as soon as we are assured that he feels good and our guys in the medical staff feel good about, then we will proceed.'' Abreu could be in the starting lineup Monday against the Royals.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Angels' Kole Calhoun: Knocks in lone run vs. White Sox

Calhoun went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a walk in Sunday's 1-0 win over Chicago.

Calhoun drove in a run during the seventh inning on a single to right field, plating the game's first and only tally. He's off to a slow start to September, hitting .174 with a home run over seven games, and he owns an uninspiring .223/.295/.394 slash line through 119 contests this season.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Likely to return Monday

Abreu (abdomen) is expected to return to the lineup Monday, Phil Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Some reports suggested Abreu could return ahead of Sunday's contest, but it seems his return date has simply been pushed back a single day. Look for him to reclaim his starting spot at first base against the Royals on Monday.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Not returning Sunday

Abreu (abdomen) is not listed on the lineup card for Sunday's contest against the Angels, Brian Sandalow of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Earlier reports suggested that the All-Star first baseman could return for Sunday's series finale, but the White Sox will instead continue to slow-play his timetable. Abreu could still return ahead of Monday's game against the Royals, though his exact date is still a bit murky. Matt Davidson will continue to man first base until Abreu is back in action.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Athletics' Matt Olson: Knocks go-ahead homer

Olson went 1-for-1 with a solo homer in Saturday's win over the Rangers.

Olson replaced Mark Canha in the top of the seventh inning with the game tied 6-6, and the first baseman proceeded to give the A's the lead in the bottom half of the frame with his solo shot off Chris Martin. It's been a bit of an underwhelming season for Olson after he unleashed 24 homers in 59 games last year, though he's still hitting a respectable .239/.323/.445 with 25 homers in 143 contests.
