Mariners' Evan White: Rehab assignment on tap

White (hip) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

The Mariners were hopeful that White would be able to begin a rehab assignment when the team returned from its current road trip, but he'll be able to join the Triple-A club a few days ahead of schedule. The 25-year-old has been on the injured list for nearly a month, so he could require several rehab games before he's cleared to rejoin the Mariners.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: On base thrice in win

Diaz went 2-for-4 with a walk in a win over the Nationals on Tuesday.

Diaz extended his hitting streak to five games with his second multi-hit effort over the last four contests. The 29-year-old just belted his first home run of the season Monday, and he's boosted his season average 14 points to .258 during his current stretch of productive work at the plate.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Not starting Wednesday

Dalbec isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Astros, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Dalbec will get a day off after he went 0-for-11 with a run, a walk and five strikeouts across the last three games. Danny Santana will take over at first base and lead off.

  • Triston Casas 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Triston Casas: Racking up hits at Double-A

Casas went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs, a stolen base and an RBI in Double-A Portland's 9-8 win over New Hampshire on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old first baseman had been inactive for Portland for the past two weeks due to obligations for Summer Olympics qualifiers, but he was back in action Tuesday. He didn't miss a beat in his return to the lineup, extending his streak of two-hit games to four thanks to his pair of singles. He's now slashing .343/.418/.557 with four home runs and 17 RBI across 79 plate appearances for the Double-A affiliate.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Taking more swings

Voit (oblique) is increasing his volume of swings and could begin a rehab assignment next week, the Associated Press reports.

Voit has been on the 10-day injured list since May 26 with a Grade 2 right oblique strain, but he appears to be progressing toward a return. He would likely need a few minor-league rehab games to get back up to speed, which puts his target date to rejoin the big club at sometime in late June. Voit has played in only 12 games this year as a result of this injury and knee surgery that delayed the start of his season.

  • Nate Lowe 1B | CIN

Rangers' Nate Lowe: Takes seat Wednesday

Lowe isn't starting Wednesday against the Giants.

Lowe will get a breather after he went 3-for-15 with a run, an RBI and four strikeouts across the last four games. Charlie Culberson will start at first base and bat seventh.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Settling into groove

Gurriel went 3-for-4 with a walk and an RBI in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Red Sox.

There's no batter seeing the ball better than Gurriel right now. The first baseman extended his hitting streak to five games, going 12-for-18 (.667) with a 1.616 OPS during that stretch. After a tepid 2020 (.658 OPS), the 37-year-old Gurriel is experiencing a resurgence in 2021.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Slams fifth homer

Vaughn went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 6-1 win over Toronto.

Vaughn put the White Sox on the board in the seventh inning, driving a solo shot to right field, his first big swat since May 24. He added another RBI on a sacrifice fly in the following frame. The rookie has been a mild disappointment with a .230/.312/.412 slash line on the season.
