  • Gabriel Arias SS | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Gets Sunday off

Arias is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Arias will get a much-needed breather after he started in each of Cleveland's last 13 games, seeing action at all the infield spots except second base during that stretch. Tyler Freeman will get the nod at shortstop Sunday, but Arias is expected to operate as the primary option at the position in the wake of Brayan Rocchio's recent demotion to Triple-A Columbus.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Sitting out versus lefty

O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

The lefty-hitting O'Hearn will take a seat in the series finale while the Orioles bring lefty Ty Blach to the hill. Ryan Mountcastle will man first base in place of O'Hearn.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Faces live pitching

Rizzo (concussion) took live at-bats at the Yankees' spring training complex in Florida on Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Rizzo stepped in against live pitching for the first time since he went on the injured list Aug. 3 with post-concussion syndrome. The veteran first baseman had recently advanced to hitting drills, and he appears to be working toward a return to the Yankees before the end of the campaign. Manager Aaron Boone indicated that Rizzo came away from Saturday's session well and has said that the slugger's status is "week-to-week."

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Remains out Sunday

Schanuel (illness) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Schanuel missed Saturday's 5-3 win while recovering from an apparent case of food poisoning, but it's unclear if the rookie's absence Sunday is due to the illness or because the Mets are bringing a southpaw (David Peterson) to the hill. Regardless, Brandon Drury will shift over from the keystone and pick up a start at first base while Schanuel sits.

  • Luke Raley RF | SEA

Rays' Luke Raley: Swipes 13th bag

Raley went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored Saturday against the Yankees.

Raley has popped three home runs in his last 10 games and has an outstanding .262 ISO on the season. However, he produced in a different way Saturday by swiping his 13th base of the campaign on 15 attempts. It's been a breakout year for Raley, who should maintain a large-side platoon role at DH for the final five weeks of the regular season.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

Astros' Jose Abreu: Hitting toward bottom of order

Abreu went 2-for-5 with two RBI on Saturday against the Tigers.

Abreu started for the third time in four games since being activated from the injured list and has hit sixth in the order once while hitting seventh on two occasions. Nevertheless, he's been productive, tallying three RBI to go along with a double. Abreu may get some occasional time off to allow Yainer Diaz to enter the lineup, but he looks to be in line to close the season as Houston's primary first baseman.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: CT scan comes back clean

A CT scan of Diaz's left forearm came back negative Saturday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Diaz remains sore and is sitting out Saturday's game against the Yankees after being hit by a pitch Friday. He's managed to avoid a serious injury, however, and can be considered day-to-day. The Rays are using Jonathan Aranda at first base Saturday.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Out with illness

Schanuel's absence from the lineup Saturday against the Mets is due to an illness, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Schanuel was scratched Saturday and replaced in the lineup Trey Cabbage, but the Angels initially relayed that the former wasn't dealing with any injury. Though that's indeed the case, Schanuel is under the weather while he's battling what appears to be a case of food poisoning. He can be viewed as day-to-day heading into Sunday's series finale.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Scratched but not injured

Schanuel was scratched from the lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Mets but is not dealing with an injury, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

The Angels have yet to announce a reason for Schanuel's absence, but Fletcher reports that the issue isn't a serious one. Trey Cabbage will get the start at first base in Schanuel's absence.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Sits with sore forearm

Diaz is absent from the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees with a sore forearm, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Diaz suffered the injury when he was hit by a pitch in Friday's series opener. He reportedly underwent an X-ray after the game and may require further testing, telling Topkin, "I'm a little worried." Jonathan Aranda starts at first base Saturday and could see an uptick in playing time should Diaz require a trip to the injured list, though the Rays' flexible roster means they could spread any additional at-bats around among several different players.
