  • Jared Walsh 1B | CHW

Rangers' Jared Walsh: Steps out of lineup

Walsh is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Oakland.

Walsh posted an .842 OPS while starting the past nine games but will head to the bench Tuesday against Athletics lefty Alex Wood. Ezequiel Duran will shift to first base while Davis Wendzel starts at the hot corner.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Twins' Carlos Santana: Sitting out Tuesday

Santana is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Dodgers.

It's the first day off this season for Santana, who had been in the lineup for each of the first eight games. Alex Kirilloff will occupy first base, while Jose Miranda will get a start at designated hitter.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: RBI double in win

Guerrero went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and one run scored in Monday's 5-2 win against Seattle.

Guerrero recently had a seven-game stretch during which he tallied just four hits over 24 plate appearances, but the slugger seems to be on an upswing over the past three contests with four hits, including two doubles and a homer. No matter if he's in a slump or hitting out of one, the 25-year-old will be a fixture in the Blue Jays lineup as he's been the No. 2 hitter in all 11 games to date.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Mariners' Ty France: Laces three hits in return

France went 3-for-4 in a loss to the Blue Jays on Monday.

Monday marked France's return from a three-day paternity leave, and the veteran's bat clearly wasn't affected by the brief layoff. France extended his hitting streak to seven games with what was already his third multi-hit effort of the young season, pushing his slash line to .379/.419/.414 across 31 plate appearances in the process.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Headed to Triple-A

The Red Sox optioned Dalbec to Triple-A Worcester on Monday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Dalbec has struggled at the plate to start the season, going 0-for-9 with six strikeouts. He slashed .269/.381/.557 with 33 home runs and 80 RBI over 493 plate appearances in Triple-A last season. Dalbec will look to find his form with Worcester and attempt to work his way back to the majors.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Sitting against right-hander

Schanuel is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays.

It marks the first time this season Schanuel hasn't been in the lineup versus a right-hander and just the second time overall. Brandon Drury is handling first base, with Luis Rengifo covering second.

  • Nate Lowe DH | CIN

Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Rehab games coming soon?

Lowe (oblique) could be cleared to begin a rehab assignment after taking live batting practice Tuesday and Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Lowe is a month removed from suffering a right oblique strain and would appear past the injury at this point, so it's more about getting his timing down before rejoining the Rangers' lineup. Jared Walsh has been seeing the bulk of the reps at first base for Texas with Lowe out but would revert to a reserve role or occasional designated hitter when Lowe is ready.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Mariners' Ty France: Back from paternity list

The Mariners reinstated France (personal) from the paternity list Monday.

The 29-year-old was away from the team for the three-game series in Milwaukee in order to be with his family, but he's active ahead of Monday's series opener at Toronto. France will return to his starting spot at first base against the Blue Jays.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Two doubles in three-hit effort

Mountcastle went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Pirates.

Mountcastle had cooled off entering Sunday, going 1-for-16 over his previous four games before breaking out of the slump. He was involved in both of the Orioles' runs, hitting an RBI double and coming around to score on an Anthony Santander single in the fourth inning. Mountcastle is batting .294 with a home runs, eight RBI, four runs scored, five doubles and a 4:7 BB:K over nine contests. He looks to have a steady role at first base and a spot in the heart of the order.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Hits not falling

Vaughn went 1-for-4 with a walk and three strikeouts Sunday against the Royals.

Despite his three punchouts in Sunday's game, Vaughn has struck out at only a 20 percent clip this season. He's still hitting only .194 across 35 plate appearances, a mark that should improve over time. More concerning is Vaughn's lack of power, as he has zero extra-base hits and has yet to barrel a ball across 24 batted-ball events.
