  • Patriots' Lan Larison: Makes impact as receiver Thursday

Larison gained just one yard on seven carries in Thursday's 13-13 preseason tie with the Colts, but he caught six of eight targets for 38 yards. The undrafted running back out of UC Davis couldn't get anything going on the ground, but Larison's pass-catching chops stood out -- no other Patriot had more than three receptions on the night. His opportunities came with both TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson getting the night off, but the performance may have boosted Larison's chances of beginning the season in the RB3 role. He has yet to make his NFL debut after spending his rookie season in 2025 on the IR due to foot surgery.

  • Patriots' Lan Larison: Lead candidate for No. 3 role

Larison is part of the competition for the No. 3 running back role, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson are the Patriots' unquestioned top two backs, and Terrell Jennings (undisclosed) was the favorite for the primary depth role before being placed on injured reserve Thursday. Jennings' misfortune boosts Larison's chances of earning a spot on the 53-man roster, and he'll have to continue to battle Jam Miller, Hassan Haskins and JaMycal Hasty.

  • Patriots' Lan Larison: Making push for No. 3 RB slot

Larison appears to the early leader to serve as the Patriots' No. 3 running back behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson, Evan Lazar of the team's official site reports. Also in the mix for slotting behind the top duo are Terrell Jennings (undisclosed), Jam Miller and Myles Montgomery, but after spending the entire 2025 campaign on IR due to a foot injury, Larison is making a push to claim a complementary backfield role ahead of Week 1. In any case, the back who emerges as New England's No. 3 option has modest fantasy upside as long as Stevenson and Henderson are healthy.

  • Patriots' Lan Larison: Vying for RB3 spot in New England

Larison and Terrell Jennings are set to battle for the third spot on the Patriots' running back depth chart in training camp, Christopher Price of the Boston Globe reports. Larison signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of UC Davis prior to the 2025 season but injured his foot during the preseason and spent the entire campaign on IR. Now that he's healthy, Larison will try to earn a roster spot in a depth role behind TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson. Jam Miller and Myles Montgomery are also vying for roles in New England's running back room.

  • Patriots' Lan Larison: Participating in OTAs

Larison (foot) is participating in OTAs, Sophie Weller of Patriots Wire reports. The running back suffered a season-ending foot injury during an August preseason game last year, but he appears to be healthy now. Per Weller, at this stage of the offseason, Larison seems to be leading the competition for the third running back spot behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson. Jam Miller, Myles Montgomery and Terrell Jennings are also part of that competition.

  • Patriots' Lan Larison: Seen with walking boot

Larison was spotted wearing a walking boot following the Patriots' 48-18 preseason win over the Commanders on Friday, Michael Giardi of BostonSportsJournal.com reports. Larison went back to the locker room shortly after scoring the Patriots' final touchdown of the game at the 3:25 mark in the fourth quarter, per Zack Cox of the Boston Herald. The walking boot might be a precautionary measure. However, he'll undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury, but the undrafted rookie is in danger of missing the Patriots' second preseason contest against the Vikings on Saturday, Aug. 16. Larison finished Friday's game with seven carries for 35 yards and two catches on as many targets for nine yards.
