  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Target share continues to trend up

Rice caught seven of nine targets for 88 yards in Sunday's 24-10 win over the Dolphins. Rice was the only Kansas City pass catcher with more than three targets, and he paced the team in receiving yards as well, but Patrick Mahomes' two touchdown passes went to Kenneth Walker and Travis Kelce. Rice's target total has climbed from two in Week 1 to six in Week 2 and now nine in Week 3, so his usage has been trending in the right direction ahead of a Week 4 road game against the Raiders. He averaged 9.8 targets per game in eight appearances last season.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Robust yardage total in OT win

Rice brought in four of six targets for 83 yards in the Chiefs' 33-30 overtime win over the Colts on Sunday night. Rice finished with the Chiefs' third-highest receiving yardage total and turned in a 31-yard grab along the way. The 2023 second-round pick's boost in production was a welcome sight for fantasy managers after he'd managed a 2-19-1 line in Week 1, and given Patrick Mahomes already looks close to full health after last December's season-ending knee injury, Rice's outlook as Kansas City's No. 1 receiver should only get brighter as the season unfolds. Rice and the rest of the Chiefs' offense is in a premium spot in Week 3, as they'll pay a visit to the winless Dolphins next Sunday.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Gets in end zone to start season

Rice brought in both targets for 19 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs' 31-10 win over the Broncos on Monday night. Rice was on the receiving end of Patrick Mahomes' first touchdown pass of the season, doing all the work on a 13-yard scoring grab off a wide-receiver screen late in the first half that saw him break multiple tackles. Rice was quiet otherwise, but he did deliver excellent downfield blocking on Travis Kelce's game-long 59-yard catch in the third quarter. Mahomes connected on just five occasions with Rice and fellow starting wideout Xavier Worthy on Monday night, but that volume could certainly increase in a favorable Week 2 home matchup Sunday night against a Colts defense that was exposed in every facet by the Ravens in Week 1.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Logs 10 snaps in preseason finale

Rice played offensive 10 snaps in Kansas City's 9-9 exhibition tie with the Seahawks on Friday and did not record any targets or touches. Rice and some of Kansas City's key offensive starters got to log some reps during the first quarter before being pulled. Though he didn't produce any offensive output, it's notable that Rice took part in his first game action since he landed on IR due to a concussion late last December. Rice had a tumultuous offseason, as he spent some time in jail due to a probation violation and also had a minor procedure on his right knee, but he appears healthy and isn't expected to face NFL discipline for the legal issue. As such, he can be penciled in as the Chiefs' top WR heading into Week 1 versus Denver on Monday, Sept. 14.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: No further discipline expected, per NFL Insider

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said Rice is unlikely to face NFL discipline for his probation violation this spring, Charles Goldman of AtoZ Sports reports. The report notes that Rice's return from arthroscopic knee surgery is a bigger concern for the Chiefs right now, with the wideout perhaps not yet in game shape after being eased into drills in training camp. He probably won't play much this preseason, if at all, but Rice still has a month to get ready for a starting role in Week 1 against Denver.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Joins 11-on-11 drills

Rice (knee) is participating in 11-on-11 drills at Wednesday's practice, Nate Taylor of ESPN.com reports. Per Taylor, it's the first time in training camp that the wideout has done so, as he continues to work his way back from an offseason knee procedure. It remains to be seen how much, if any, preseason action Rice sees, but assuming he experiences no setbacks ahead of Week 1, he's slated to maintain his key role as a starter in a Chiefs' WR corps that also features Xavier Worthy (shoulder), with Tyquan Thornton, Jalen Royals and Cyrus Allen (shin) also in the mix for targets that don't go to the top duo.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Poised to practice

Rice (knee) has been cleared to practice ahead of training camp, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. The wideout is recovering from a minor clean-up surgery undergone in May on his right knee, but he'll be able to take the field once the Chiefs resume practicing. Looking ahead, Rice is slated to work as a key pass-catching option in the team's offense alongside fellow WR Xavier Worthy for QB Patrick Mahomes (knee), who has also been cleared to practice, per coach Andy Reid. While Rice is available for training camp, there could be risk down the road for an NFL suspension stemming from a probation violation that resulted in him serving a 30-day sentence in jail this offseason. Rice is coming off a 2025 regular season in which he recorded a 53-571-5 line on 78 targets in eight contests.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Released from jail

Rice (knee) has been released from Dallas County Jail on Tuesday after serving his 30-day sentence for violating probation with a positive THC test, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Kansas City head coach Andy Reid said last Thursday that he expects Rice to be ready for the start of training camp in July. The fourth-year wide receiver is recovering from a minor clean-up surgery undergone in May on his right knee, and while in jail he was able to both rehab and maintain communication with the team. He was unable to attend mandatory minicamp, however. It's possible that Rice could still face league discipline as a result of his probation violation, but he appears on track to be fully healthy in advance of the regular season.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Not yet practicing

Head coach Andy Reid said that Rice (concussion) won't participate in Tuesday's practice, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Rice hasn't practiced in any fashion since reporting concussion symptoms following Kansas City's Week 15 loss to the Chargers. Given that he's unlikely to clear the five-step concussion protocol prior to Thursday's matchup with the Broncos, Rice looks on track to miss a second straight game.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Remains sidelined Thursday

Rice (concussion) won't practice Thursday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Rice will sit out a second consecutive practice Thursday, having also missed Wednesday's session after reporting concussion symptoms Monday. To have any chance at clearing the NFL's five-step concussion protocol prior to Sunday's game against the Titans, Rice would have to upgrade to full participation Friday and gain clearance from an independent neurologist, so his chances of suiting up Sunday look slim. Xavier Worthy could work as the top wide receiver for a Chiefs team that has been eliminated from playoff contention and will start Gardner Minshew at quarterback.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: In concussion protocol

Rice (concussion) won't practice Wednesday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Per Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com, Rice reported concussion symptoms Monday, and the wideout is now in the NFL's concussion protocol as Sunday's game against the Titans approaches. He now has two more chances to practice before the Chiefs' Week 16 game statuses are posted, but with the team eliminated from playoff contention, look for caution to be exercised with both Rice and fellow WR Tyquan Thornton, who is also in the protocol.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Kept in check despite seven catches

Rice brought in seven of 11 targets for 51 yards in the Chiefs' 16-13 loss to the Chargers on Sunday. Rice tied for the team lead in receptions and set the pace in targets while checking in second in receiving yards. The Chiefs' No. 1 receiver and the rest of his skill-position teammates now have an uncertain outlook for the remainder of the season, given it appears Patrick Mahomes suffered a serious knee injury in the fourth quarter that figures to sideline him the rest of the way. However, even if Gardner Minshew is under center for Kansas City's final three games, Rice figures to remain a top target.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Finds end zone twice in loss

Rice caught eight of 12 targets for 92 yards and two touchdowns in Thursday's 31-28 loss to the Cowboys. He added two rushing yards on his lone carry. It's the second two-TD performance in six games this season for Rice, who hauled in the first and last of Patrick Mahomes' four touchdown passes on the afternoon. The 12 targets also tied Rice's season high, and he'll take an impressive 42-486-5 line on 59 targets into a tough Week 14 clash with the Texans.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Dealing with hamstring issue

Rice was listed as limited on Monday's practice estimate due to a hamstring injury. Rice took full advantage of his 12 targets during Sunday's overtime win versus the Colts, turning them into eight catches for 141 yards and no touchdowns. He, along with fellow WR Xavier Worthy (ankle, LP on Monday), are tending to injuries afterward, but the pair will have two more opportunities to prove their respective levels of health in advance of Thursday's game at Dallas.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Two touchdowns in season debut

Rice recorded seven receptions on 10 targets for 42 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 31-0 win over the Raiders. Rice made his season debut after recovering from a serious knee injury while also serving a six-game suspension. He immediately regained his role as Patrick Mahomes' favorite pass catcher, as Rice led the team with 10 targets and seven receptions. Rice's work all came close to the line of scrimmage -- his longest catch of the day went for only 12 yards -- but his performance was made with a pair of scores from two and three yards away. The Chiefs were able to run a conservative offensive game plan for the entire second half, so Rice should be in for bigger performances moving forward, even considering his strong season debut.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Suspension lifted

Rice's suspension has been lifted by the NFL, per the league's official transaction log, which paves the way for the wideout to be available for Sunday's game against the Raiders. While the Chiefs have been granted a roster exemption for Rice that expires Oct. 20 and thus will need to officially activate him by Saturday in order for him to play Week 7, at this time there's no reason to believe that won't occur. The looming return of Rice should provide a major boost to the offense of the 3-3 Chiefs, and assuming no issues at practice this week, the 2023 second-rounder should immediately step into a prominent role in a WR corps that also includes Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Tyquan Thornton.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Agreeing to six-game suspension

Rice and the NFL are finalizing an agreement to suspend him for the first six games of the 2025 season, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Rice will first be eligible to play Oct. 19 against Las Vegas in Week 7. He had a meeting with the league scheduled for Sept. 30 but ended up agreeing to a deal that will get him back in the lineup before mid-season. The NFL and NFLPA are now working to finalize a settlement.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: NFL wants six-game suspension

The NFL aims to suspend Rice six games beginning at the start of the regular season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Rice and the NFL are scheduled for a Sept. 30 disciplinary hearing, reportedly to discuss a potential 6-to-8 week suspension, but it instead appears that the third-year wideout could be immediately suspended six games, thus missing time to begin the regular season rather than later in the year, or even potentially in 2026. It's possible that this development is indicative of a potential settlement between Rice and the NFL, and in any case it now looks like a resolution before Week 1 is realistically on the table. However the situation ultimately plays out, fantasy managers will need to be prepared to proceed without Rice for a portion of the 2025 season.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Settlement could be reached

While Rice has a Sept. 30 disciplinary hearing with the NFL scheduled, it's still possible that a settlement could be reached before the season, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Per the report, the NFL initially proposed a suspension that would sideline Rice for over half of the coming season, but as things stand and based on the timing of his scheduled hearing, the wideout is currently in a position to be available for the first four games of the regular season. His situation could change, however, if a settlement is reached. In any case, Pelissero notes that the expectation is that Rice, who returned to practice earlier this week, will be suspended for a portion of the 2025 season, but in that scenario, how long remains to be seen.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Likely available Weeks 1-4

Rice (groin) is expected to have his disciplinary hearing with the NFL scheduled for Tues., Sept. 30, making him likely to play in Kansas City's first four games of the regular season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Rice's disciplinary hearing with the NFL is expected to result in a multi-game suspension relating to his involvement in a multi-car crash that occurred in Dallas during the 2024 offseason, and a scheduling date of Sept. 30 likely now means that any missed time would come either in the middle of the 2025 campaign, or be deferred until 2026. That at least provides clarity that Rice, who missed the Chiefs' preseason opener against the Cardinals due to what coach Andy Reid described as a minor groin injury, should be available for the first four games of the regular season at a minimum, beginning Week 1 against the Chargers on Friday, Sept. 5. The status of both Rice and Hollywood Brown (ankle) remains uncertain for Friday's exhibition matchup against Seattle.
