  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Extends sack streak in win

Hutchinson recorded four tackles (two solo) including 1.0 sacks and a forced fumble during Sunday's 37-24 win at Cincinnati. Hutchinson earned his fifth sack in four games by torching tackle Orlando Brown around the edge early in the fourth quarter, and he forced a fumble for the third time in as many contests when he subsequently dislodged the ball from Jake Browning's grasp. He'll be eager to extend both streaks in a Week 6 tilt at Kansas City.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Collects two more sacks

Hutchinson finished Sunday's 34-10 win over the Browns with four tackles (three solo), including 2.0 sacks, and one forced fumble. Hutchinson's sacks on Joe Flacco came in the second and fourth quarter, the latter of which resulted in a fumble that was recovered by Trevor Nowaske and resulted in an eight-yard touchdown pass from Jared Goff to Amon-Ra St. Brown six plays later. Hutchinson is up to 4.0 sacks on the year, which is tied for fifth most in the NFL.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Logs sack in win

Hutchinson tallied two tackles (one solo), including 1.0 sacks, during Detroit's win Sunday versus the Bears. Hutchinson didn't record any stats during the team's season opener but had a bounce-back performance during Sunday's victory as he managed to record his first sack of the season. As the campaign goes on, the 2022 first-round pick will look to match his production from a season ago, when he racked up 7.5 sacks across five games before suffering a season-ending leg injury.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Blanked in Week 1

Hutchinson failed to record any stats while playing 45 defensive snaps in Sunday's 27-13 loss to the Packers. Hutchinson made his much-anticipated return to action after missing the last 12 regular-season contests of the 2024 campaign while recovering from a season-ending leg injury. The 25-year-old played 96 percent of the defensive snaps against Green Bay, certainly a positive, but he was unable to make his mark on the contest. Hutchinson will look to be more productive in Week 2 versus Chicago.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: No new deal yet ahead of Week 1

Hutchinson and the Lions have "had positive contract conversations," but the sides aren't expected to get a deal done before Sunday's regular-season opener, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Hutchinson is now back to health after a leg injury ended his season in Week 6 last year, and his return should significantly bolster the Lions' pass rush. However, despite positive discussions, it appears he won't be getting a new contract before Detroit's regular season kicks off. Hutchinson had his fifth-year option picked up in late April, so he's under contract through 2026.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Fifth-year option exercised

The Lions picked up Hutchinson's (lower leg) fifth-year option Friday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Hutchinson is now under contract through 2026 and has a projected salary of $19.78 million in the fifth and final year of his rookie deal. The 2022 first-round pick continues to rehab and recover from a fractured tibia and fibula in his left leg that he suffered in Week 6 against the Cowboys, and he's expected to participate in OTAs and be fully healthy by the start of training camp in July.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Return for Super Bowl not ruled out

Hutchinson (tibia/fibula) may have a realistic chance to return for a potential Super Bowl appearance if the Lions are able to advance that far during the postseason, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Hutchinson suffered a broken left tibia and fibula in Detroit's Week 6 win over the Cowobys and underwent immediate surgery last Sunday in Dallas. He was given a recovery timeline of 4-to-6 months, with the shorter end of that timeframe butting up right against the Super Bowl, which is scheduled for Feb. 9. A return for the Super Bowl would still be optimistic, but wilder things have happened, and Hutchinson has youth on his side. Hutchinson was placed on injured reserve Tuesday and is fully expected to miss the remainder of the regular season.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Officially placed on IR

The Lions placed Hutchinson (lower leg) on injured reserve Tuesday. Hutchinson will be out for the rest of the regular season after fracturing his left tibia and fibula during Sunday's game against the Cowboys. Head coach Dan Campbell said Monday that Hutchinson is expected to be out of action for 4-6 months following surgery Sunday, meaning that a return during the postseason, however unlikely, is not off the table, per Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News. The Lions intend to sign Isaiah Thomas off the Bengals' practice squad Tuesday to the active roster, and he will provide pass-rush depth behind Josh Paschal and James Houston.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Out 4-to-6 months after surgery

Hutchinson's surgery on a fractured left tibia and fibula went well Sunday, and he's expected to be out 4-to-6 months, coach Dan Campbell said Monday, Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News reports. Campbell's update is encouraging, and the head coach intimated that he wouldn't rule Hutchinson out from a return in the playoffs. Hutchinson's still expected to miss the remainder of the regular season, and even a postseason return would have to occur before the optimistic end of his projected absence. Nonetheless, this is positive news given the serious concern over Hutchinson's injury as soon as it occurred.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Tibia injury season-ending

Hutchinson is expected to miss the rest of the season due to the broken left tibia he suffered in Sunday's 47-9 win over the Cowboys, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Hutchinson was carted off in the second half and underwent surgery at a Dallas-area hospital. He was an early frontrunner for Defensive Player of the Year prior to the injury, and the standout pass rusher will finish the season with 7.5 sacks among his 19 tackles (12 solo) to go with a forced fumble in just five games. On the bright side, the early prognosis on Hutchinson's injury suggests that he will be ready to go for the start of the 2025 season.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Out long-term with tibia injury

Hutchinson (lower leg) is staying behind at a local Dallas hospital after injuring his tibia in Sunday's 47-9 win over the Cowboys, and coach Dan Campbell said after the game that Hutchinson will be "down for a little while," Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports. Hutchinson fractured his tibia before being carted off the field in the second half of Sunday's win. A clear recovery timeline has yet to be established, but Hutchinson's looking at a multi-week absence and will probably miss the rest of the season. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Hutchinson underwent immediate surgery on the broken tibia.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Suffers serious leg injury Sunday

Hutchinson was carted off the field with a potentially serious lower left leg injury during Sunday's contest in Dallas, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. After sacking Cowboys QB Dak Prescott in the third quarter, Hutchinson remained on the turf in significant pain and threw his gloves off in the process. Hutchinson was fitted with an air cast while his teammates surrounded him in the middle of the field, indicating the severity of the situation. The Lions will clarify the nature of his health concern in due time.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Historic performance in Week 2

Hutchinson recorded five total tackles (four solo), including 4.5 sacks, in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Buccaneers. Hutchinson got out of the gates with a bang, securing a strip sack of Baker Mayfield on Tampa Bay's first possession of the contest. He later added another 2.0 sacks on the Buccaneers' next two drives. The defensive lineman then notched 1.5 sacks in the second half, finishing off a historic day. Hutchinson's 4.5 sacks are the second most in a game in franchise history, only behind Bill Gay who compiled 5.5 sacks in 1983, also against Tampa Bay. Through two games in 2024, Hutchinson has registered 10 total tackles (seven solo), including 5.5 sacks, and forced a fumble.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Active in win

Hutchinson finished with five tackles (three solo), including 1.0 sacks, and four total quarterback hits in the Lions' 26-20 overtime win over the Rams on Sunday night. Hutchinson ended the 2023 regular season with 11.5 sacks, seven passes defensed and three forced fumbles, a standout second-year campaign that saw him build on a strong rookie 2022 season. Judging by his performance in Week 1, the third-year pro could be ready to take another step forward in 2024, and he'll next look to make life difficult on Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers in a Week 2 home matchup.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Comes up big versus Chicago

Hutchinson logged six tackles (two solo), with a sack and a forced fumble during Sunday's 31-26 win versus the Bears. Hutchinson came up big for the Lions on Sunday, as he sacked Justin Fields late in the fourth quarter and forced a fumble that ended up going out the back of Chicago's end zone for the game-clinching safety. The second-year pro now has 32 tackles (20 solo), including 5.5 sacks, and an interception through 10 games this season.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Has 3.5 sacks over last two games

Hutchinson recorded 1.5 sacks among his three quarterback hits in Thursday's 34-20 win over the Packers. After failing to notch a sack in the first two games of the season, Hutchinson has heated up with 3.5 sacks over the past two games. The second overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft has been a key contributor for a Detroit team that finds itself in unfamiliar territory, alone atop the NFC North standings at 3-1.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Six pressures in season opener

Hutchinson had four tackles (three solo) and three quarterback hits in Thursday's 21-20 win over Kansas City. Hutchinson's box score stats in the season opener didn't jump off the page, but he wreaked havoc all night and consistently flushed Patrick Mahomes out of the pocket. Per Ed Werder of ESPN, Hutchinson's career-high six quarterback pressures Thursday tied for the most by a Lions player since 2020. Those pressures will likely start turning into sacks against inferior offensive lines and less mobile quarterbacks for the second overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, who had 9.5 sacks as a rookie.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Impressive rookie year

Hutchinson registered 52 tackles, 9.5 sacks, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries over 17 games in 2022. It took the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft just two weeks into his rookie season to post a breakout game with three sacks in Week 2 against Washington. By season's end, Hutchinson led all rookies with 53 total pressures and nearly 10 sacks while also making history for his position with three picks. While the Detroit defense still needs a few pieces to become a formidable unit, the sky seems to be the limit for Hutchinson as he enters his age-23 season in 2023.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Active against Jets

Hutchinson (illness) is active for Sunday's game at the Jets, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports. After coming down with an illness Thursday, Hutchinson has recovered and appears poised to play Sunday. He should continue to play the vast majority of Detroit's defensive snaps on the edge.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: More modest production

Hutchinson recorded two tackles during Sunday's 29-0 loss to the Patriots. A poor Week 1 was followed by a massive three-sack Week 2, but Hutchinson hasn't done much of anything since then. He came close to his fourth sack of the season at one point in this one, but Patriots pocket passer Bailey Zappe surprisingly was able to sidestep Hutchinson with ease. With Charles Harris (groin) possibly set to miss time, the Lions will need their highly drafted rookie to increase his productivity coming out of the team's Week 6 bye.
