  • Steelers' Malik Williams: Heads to Pittsburgh

Williams signed a contract with the Steelers on Friday, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Williams didn't see game action in 2018 as he was waived/injured by the Falcons at roster cutdowns due to a shoulder issue. The 22-year-old went undrafted out of Louisville last year and he'll look to make his NFL debut in 2019.

  • Malik Williams: Waived-injured by Falcons

Williams (shoulder) was waived-injured by the Falcons on Saturday, Will McFadden of AtlantaFalcons.com reports.

Williams had been competing for a role in Atlanta's backfield behind Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman throughout the preseason, but was ultimately waived with an injury designation as the team trimmed its roster. He'll revert to IR if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

  • Falcons' Malik Williams: Scores first NFL touchdown

Williams accounted for 20 rushing yards and a touchdown on seven carries along with two receptions for 35 yards in Thursday's 34-7 loss to Miami.

The undrafted rookie running back out of Louisville kept hope alive for a roster spot with a solid showing in the preseason finale, pacing the Atlanta backfield with 55 combined offensive yards and accounting for the team's lone touchdown over the past two weeks. Of the four leading candidates to become the Falcons' No. 3 option at running back -- Williams, Ito Smith, Terrence Magee and Justin Crawford -- Williams led the group in rushing yards (55), receiving yards (54) and touchdowns (one) throughout the exhibition slate.

  • Falcons' Malik Williams: Dealing with shoulder injury

Williams suffered a shoulder injury in Thursday's preseason finale against the Dolphins, Kelsey Conway of the Falcons' official site reports.

Williams put forth a solid performance -- 55 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown -- prior to exiting with the injury in the third quarter. The severity of the issue remains unclear while the 22-year-old hopes to have shown enough to secure a spot on the 53-man roster.
