Player Outlook
A true enigma, TeSlaa's closest size/athleticism comparisons invoke names such as Andre Johnson and Allen Robinson. But he was a slot receiver at Arkansas (he put up massive numbers at Hillsdale College before that). TeSlaa was a part-time player in his final season and never topped six targets in a game despite repeatedly winning on downfield slot routes. The Lions apparently saw something worth betting on, aggressively moving up the board to select TeSlaa way earlier than projected in Round 3. There's no telling how he might be used in Detroit's offense given his limited sample of perimeter route running vs. FBS competition. The raw intrigue makes him a fine wait-and-see investment, but there's no way of predicting what might come from this type of profile. He is not worth drafting outside of the deepest leagues.

Fantasy News

  • Lions' Isaac TeSlaa: Climbs depth chart

TeSlaa's strong performance in training camp and the preseason contributed to Detroit's decision to trade Tim Patrick to the Jaguars in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick Wednesday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports. Lions coach Dan Campbell said after the Lions' preseason finale 26-7 loss to Houston, in which TeSlaa caught both his targets for 41 yards and a touchdown, that the 2025 third-round pick is "going to have some growing pains" but that "we're very pleased with where he's at after six weeks of camp" and "if you took most receivers, he'd be in the upper echelon of those, as far as development" at this stage of his rookie season. Patrick operated as the No. 3 receiver for Detroit much of last season, and his departure now leaves that role up immediately for grabs between TeSlaa and Kalif Raymond.

  • Lions' Isaac TeSlaa: Another impressive preseason TD

TeSlaa caught both his targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 26-7 preseason loss to the Texans. The 2025 third-round pick wrapped up his dazzling preseason with another big play, connecting with Kyle Allen on a 33-yard TD strike late in the first quarter. TeSlaa has done everything possible to lock up a spot on the 53-man roster, and while he may begin the season as the No. 5 wideout, his trajectory to begin his career suggests it may not be long before he surpasses veterans Tim Patrick and Kalif Raymond to claim the No. 3 role behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.

  • Lions' Isaac TeSlaa: Scores again Saturday

TeSlaa secured four of five targets for 41 yards and one touchdown during the Lions' 24-17 preseason loss to the Dolphins on Saturday. TeSlaa has now hit paydirt in back-to-back preseason contests, and he impressed similarly in Detroit's exhibition opener against the Chargers in the Hall of Fame Game on July 31, securing two of three targets for 46 scoreless yards. It's fair to say that the rookie third-round pick has build significant momentum throughout training camp and the preseason. TeSlaa will have one more chance to impress in exhibition action next Saturday versus the Texans, as he works to push Tim Patrick and Kalif Raymond for reps as the No. 3 receiver behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.
