  • Lions' Derrick Moore: Hopes to return soon

The Lions hope Moore (groin) can return within 7-10 days, Richard Silva of The Detroit News reports. Moore left Sunday's practice session early with a groin issue, but it appears to be something the defensive end should be able to quickly overcome. With the second-round rookie out for at least a week, Tyler Lacy, Tyre West and Trevor Nowaske will likely continue to see greater opportunities with the second-team defense.

  • Lions' Derrick Moore: Exits practice with groin injury

Moore left Sunday's training camp practice early to be evaluated for a groin injury, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports. The results of that evaluation will determine the next steps for Moore, who was a second-round selection of the Lions in the 2026 NFL Draft. The rookie out of Michigan is competing for rotational snaps at defensive end behind starters Aidan Hutchinson and D.J. Wonnum, with Tyler Lacy, Tyre West and Trevor Nowaske serving as Moore's main competition.

  • Lions' Derrick Moore: Snapped up by Detroit

The Lions selected Moore in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 44th overall. Moore spent his entire four-year college career with Michigan, and he will stay in state after being scooped up by the Lions. He was an Honorable Mention on the All-Big Ten teams in both 2023 and 2024 before breaking out in his senior year in 2025, when he posted 30 tackles, including 10.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and three pass defenses across 12 games, en route to being selected to the All-Big Ten First-Team. Moore's steady increase in production over the course of his college career could translate to the NFL, and he has the size, athleticism and physicality to compete at the next level. His addition upgrades a Lions defensive front that is headlined by fellow former Wolverine Aidan Hutchinson.
