Vikings' Brett Thorson: Ruled out for Sunday

Thorson (hamstring) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Craig Peters of the Vikings' official site reports. Thorson was unable to practice throughout Week 3 due to a right hamstring injury. Recent practice squad addition Johnny Hekker is set to be elevated to the active roster to punt and hold for the Vikings in Thorson's absence.

Thorson will be the Vikings' punter heading into the 2026 season, Tom Pelissero of Netflix reports. Thorson spent four collegiate seasons at Georgia before signing with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in April 2026. After a quality preseason, he will serve as Minnesota's punter during the 2026 campaign after beating out veteran Johnny Hekker for the job.
