  • Gabe Davis: On practice squad injured list

Davis (knee) was placed on the Bills' practice squad injured list Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Davis agreed to sign with the team's practice squad Tuesday, but the wideout will reside on the injured list while he continues to bounce back from a torn meniscus he sustained last season, per Joe Buscagliaof The Athletic. Down the road, Davis could find himself back in the Bills' WR mix, and his familiarity with the offense (the 26-year-old played for Buffalo from 2020 through 2023) would no doubt ease his transition to a return to action in such a scenario.

  • Gabe Davis: Joins Buffalo practice squad

Davis (knee) agreed to sign with the Bills' practice squad Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The 26-year-old wideout will reunite with the Bills, with whom he began his career in 2020. Davis recorded at least 500 receiving yards and six touchdowns in each of his four seasons in Buffalo, but after receiving a three-year, $39 million deal from the Jaguars in free agency last offseason, he struggled to a 20-239-2 receiving line over 10 games before undergoing season-ending surgery last November to address a torn meniscus. Davis drew interest from a number of teams after being cut by Jacksonville in May but ultimately chose to continue his career in a familiar locale. He's still working his way back into playing shape following knee surgery and won't be a candidate for elevation from the practice squad right away, but once he's deemed fully healthy, he could emerge as a downfield threat in the Buffalo aerial attack.

  • Gabe Davis: Visiting Buffalo after Pittsburgh

Davis (knee) is scheduled to meet with the Bills after a medical follow-up with the Steelers on Tuesday, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. The Jaguars released Davis in May, a little less than six months after he suffered a season-ending meniscus injury. A return to Buffalo -- where he played from 2020 to 2023 -- might be the most promising option for getting his career back on track, but Davis likely will start off in a backup role wherever he ends up signing.

  • Gabe Davis: Making second Steelers visit

Davis (knee) is visiting with the Steelers on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Davis is meeting with the receiver-needy Steelers for the second time this offseason. He hasn't seen any action since suffering a season-ending meniscus tear Week 11 of the 2024 campaign as a member of the Jaguars. Davis had at least 549 receiving yards and six touchdowns in each of his four regular seasons with the Bills from 2020-2023.

  • Gabe Davis: Getting look from Giants

The Giants are hosting Davis (knee) for a visit Tuesday, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports. It's the second visit in as many days for Davis, who checked in with the 49ers on Monday, after he was released by the Jaguars on May 7. The 2020 fourth-rounder is recovering from a meniscus tear that he suffered in Week 11 against the Lions but is expected to be fully healthy by the start of the 2025 regular season. He previously played under Giants head coach Brian Daboll in Buffalo, and a reunion would put Davis in a receiver room alongside Malik Nabers, Wan'Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton.

  • Gabe Davis: Released by Jaguars

The Jaguars released Davis (knee) on Wednesday. Davis made it through just one season of a three-year, $39 million contract, playing 10 games for Jacksonville before a torn meniscus ended his 2024 campaign. He may not be back at full strength yet but should get there before Week 1 of 2025, making the 26-year-old a reasonable free-agent option for WR-needy teams this spring/summer. The Jaguars, meanwhile, are moving forward with No. 2 overall draft pick Travis Hunter and free-agent signing Dyami Brown alongside Brian Thomas at wide receiver.

  • Jaguars' Gabe Davis: Goes on IR

The Jaguars placed Davis (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday. Davis will miss the rest of the season after he suffered a torn meniscus in Sunday's 52-6 loss to the Lions that will need to be surgically repaired. He becomes the second Jaguars starting receiver to go down with a season-ending injury, after Christian Kirk fractured his collarbone in a Week 8 loss to the Packers. The Jaguars are now left with rookie Brian Thomas as their top option at receiver, while the absences of Davis and Kirk could open up more reps for Parker Washington, Tim Jones and Devin Duvernay over the team's final six games. After signing a three-year, $39 million contract in March, Davis will finish his first season in Jacksonville with 20 receptions for 239 yards and two touchdowns on 42 targets over his 10 appearances.

  • Jaguars' Gabe Davis: Out for season

Coach Doug Pederson said Monday that Davis (knee) will miss the rest of the season, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports. Davis suffered a knee injury Sunday at Detroit, and the ensuing prognosis of out for the season indicates that he'll require a full meniscus repair. He's set to join fellow WR Christian Kirk (collarbone) on injured reserve, while Brian Thomas, Parker Washington, Tim Jones and Devin Duvernay are left as the healthy options at the position on the Jaguars' active roster.

  • Jaguars' Gabe Davis: May have sustained torn meniscus

Davis is believed to have suffered a meniscus tear in his knee during Sunday's 52-6 loss to the Lions, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Davis will undergo further medical testing Monday before the Jaguars provide an update, but if a meniscus tear is confirmed, the wideout would require surgery. A partial meniscectomy or trim would likely entail a multi-week recovery, while a full meniscus repair would sideline him for the rest of the season. Either way, Davis looks like a candidate to go on injured reserve, which would further deplete a Jaguars pass-catching corps that has already lost Christian Kirk (collarbone) for the remainder of the campaign. The Jaguars are on bye Week 12 before returning to action Sunday, Dec. 1 against the Texans.

  • Jaguars' Gabe Davis: Hurts knee Sunday

Davis won't return to Sunday's game against the Lions after sustaining a knee injury. Before his exit, Davis had caught one of his three targets for three yards. With the Jaguars on bye in Week 12, Davis' next chance to see game action will occur Dec. 1 against the Texans. In his absence Sunday, Brian Thomas, Parker Washington, Tim Jones, Devin Duvernay and Velus Jones are available to handle Jacksonville's WR duties versus Detroit.

  • Jaguars' Gabe Davis: Reps capped Thursday

Davis (shoulder) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice. Davis and Brian Thomas (chest) were both limited in practice for the second day in a row, but Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson hasn't suggested that the availability of either wideout for Sunday's game in Detroit is in peril. Assuming Davis is cleared to play Sunday, he'll be on the receiving end of throws from quarterback Mac Jones, who will be making a second straight start in place of the injured Trevor Lawrence (shoulder).

  • Jaguars' Gabe Davis: One catch against Vikings

Davis recorded one reception on four targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 12-7 loss to the Vikings. Davis returned from a one-game absence caused by a shoulder injury and finished second on the team in targets. However, the Jaguars' passing attack was abysmal with Mac Jones under center, leaving Davis little chance to produce meaningfully. He also wasn't particularly productive with Trevor Lawrence leading the offense, as Davis has reached 50 receiving yards only once on the campaign.

  • Jaguars' Gabe Davis: Expected to return Sunday

Davis, who is questionable for Week 10 due to a shoulder injury, is expected to play Sunday against the Vikings, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Davis missed last Sunday's loss to the Eagles due to the shoulder issue, but he was able to log a trio of limited practices this week and appears set to return to action. The fifth-year wideout will likely be joined by Jaguars No. 1 wideout Brian Thomas, who is also expected to suit up despite a chest injury. Davis has had a quiet first season in Jacksonville, recording 18 catches for 217 yards and two touchdowns through eight games. If Davis plays, he'll likely be working with quarterback Mac Jones on Sunday, as Trevor Lawrence is expected to sit out with a shoulder injury.

  • Jaguars' Gabe Davis: Questionable to face Minnesota

Davis (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings. Coach Doug Pederson expressed optimism Friday about Davis' availability to play against Minnesota, Mia O'Brien of 1010 XL 92.5 FM Jacksonville reports. The veteran wideout missed last week's loss to the Eagles. He's averaging a career-worst 27.1 yards per game in his first season with the Jaguars.

  • Jaguars' Gabe Davis: Trending toward sitting Week 9

Davis (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles but appears to be a "longshot" to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Though head coach Doug Pederson characterized Davis as a game-time decision when he last spoke to the media Friday, the receiver seemingly hasn't made enough progress from the shoulder injury he suffered in last Sunday's loss to Green Bay to give it a go in Week 9. Davis practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday through Friday, but unless his condition has dramatically improved when he's evaluated early Sunday, he'll likely be included on Jacksonville's inactive list, which will be released 90 minutes prior to the 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff. With Christian Kirk (collarbone) out for the season and Davis expected to sit out Sunday, added opportunities in the passing game should be available for wideouts Parker Washington and Tim Jones as well as tight ends Evan Engram and Brenton Strange. Brian Thomas (chest) -- who is listed as questionable but expected to play -- should also be locked in as Jacksonville's No. 1 option at receiver.

  • Jaguars' Gabe Davis: Questionable tag for Week 9

Davis (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles. Davis and Brian Thomas (chest) are both questionable in a Jacksonville receiving corps that will be without Christian Kirk (collarbone) for the rest of the season. Coach Doug Pederson said Friday that Davis, who logged three limited practices, will be a game-time decision prior to Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff, per Mia O'Brien of 1010 XL Radio.

  • Jaguars' Gabe Davis: Stays limited at practice

Davis (shoulder) remained limited at practice Thursday. With Davis and Brian Thomas (chest) both having logged back-to-back limited sessions, Friday's practice looms large for the duo in terms of their status for Sunday's game against the Eagles. In the wake of losing Christian Kirk for the season with a broken left collarbone, the Jaguars will need to lean heavily on Davis and Thomas going forward, pending their availability.

  • Jaguars' Gabe Davis: Should play in Week 9

Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said Monday that Davis (shoulder) "should be fine" for Sunday's game at Philadelphia, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports. Davis was one of three Jaguars receivers who failed to finish a Week 8 loss to the Packers, with Christian Kirk (collarbone) and Brian Thomas (chest) also making early exits. Kirk will miss the remainder of the season, but Pederson expressed optimism that Davis and Thomas will both be ready to play in Week 9, though Davis looks to be a safer bet to suit up. With Kirk out, Parker Washington appears poised to absorb most of his snaps out of the slot, but there should still be extra targets for both Davis and Thomas along with tight end Evan Engram. Davis has averaged 4.4 targets through Jacksonville's first eight games, producing an 18-217-2 receiving line.

  • Jaguars' Gabe Davis: Cleared to play Week 8

Davis (knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Packers, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports. Davis avoided an injury designation after three limited practices. He'll occupy his usual role as Jacksonville's No. 3 wide receiver behind Brian Thomas and Christian Kirk.

  • Jaguars' Gabe Davis: Limited to begin Week 8 prep

Davis (knee) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday. For the third week in a row, Davis is opening prep with a limited practice due to the knee injury. He showed no ill effects from the injury with a two-touchdown Week 6 performance against the Bears, but he took a step back in the Week 7 win over New England, finishing with just one catch. Both of those contests were in London, but Davis and the Jaguars will be back stateside Sunday for a home game against the Packers.
