  • Bills' Tyrell Shavers: Two catches in preseason finale

Shavers brought in two of three targets for 24 yards and a touchdown in the Bills' 23-19 preseason win over the Buccaneers on Saturday night. The undrafted second-year pro put in a solid showing to close out preseason, recording a pair of catches for the third time in as many games. Shavers also got into the end zone for the first time this preseason via an 11-yard grab from Shane Buechele with just over six minutes remaining in the second quarter. The San Diego State product may have done enough to secure a spot on the latter portion of the Bills' wide receiver depth chart, with final roster cuts in coming days set to confirm or dispel that possibility.

  • Bills' Tyrell Shavers: Strong showing Saturday

Shavers caught two of four targets for 70 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Giants. The undrafted free agent from 2023 continues to make a good impression, as he's been having a strong camp and led the team in receiving yardage Saturday, which included a 58-yard play where he got behind the defense and Mitchell Trubisky laid it in perfectly. Shavers may be on the roster bubble, but two players ahead of him in Khalil Shakir (ankle) and Curtis Samuel (hamstring) are hurt, so if the Bills end up keeping six receivers, Shavers may just make the final roster.

  • Bills' Tyrell Shavers: Back at practice

Shavers (ankle) returned to practice Thursday, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports. Shavers injured his ankle last weekend and had to be carted off the field, but he avoided a serious injury and should be ready to roll for the Bills' preseason opener next week. Shavers has an uphill climb to win a roster spot with Buffalo after he spent most of 2024 on the practice squad.

  • Bills' Tyrell Shavers: Avoids serious injury

Shavers is expected to miss only a few days after injuring his ankle Sunday, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports. Though the wide receiver had to be carted off the field, his injury did not appear to be serious even shortly after it happened, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com. Shavers spent the 2024 campaign on the Bills' practice squad and earned a reserve/future contract in January. He was elevated for three games last year, seeing 32 offensive snaps and 10 special-teams snaps.

  • Bills' Tyrell Shavers: Injures ankle Sunday

Shavers suffered an ankle injury and was carted off during practice Sunday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. Shavers' injury was described as a "low ankle sprain" and doesn't seem to be very serious, according to Getzenberg. The undrafted wideout (2024) from San Diego State appeared in the first three regular-season games of his career last year, catching a 69-yard touchdown pass on his lone target of the season in Week 17. He'll be competing for a spot on the practice squad when he gets healthy this training camp.

  • Bills' Tyrell Shavers: Remaining in Buffalo

The Bills signed Shavers to a reserve/future contract Tuesday. Shavers made a solid impression during Buffalo's training camp, but ultimately fell short of making the 53-man roster. He spent the entire 2024 campaign on the practice squad and was elevated for three regular-season games, with his lone catch going for a 69-yard touchdown against the Jets in Week 17. Shavers will be on the Bills' 90-man roster at the start of the new league year and will have the opportunity to participate in OTAs, minicamp and training camp ahead of the 2025 campaign.

  • Tyrell Shavers: Reverts to practice squad

Shavers reverted to the Bills' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Shavers played 12 snaps (10 on offense, two on special teams) during the Bills' 40-14 win over the Jets on Sunday. Buffalo pulled its starters in the fourth quarter, and Shavers took advantage of the opportunity by taking a pass from Mitchell Trubisky 69 yards for his first touchdown reception of his NFL career. Shavers has been elevated by the Bills three times, which is the maximum a team is allowed to do in the regular season. He would have to be signed to the active roster in order to play in Buffalo's regular-season finale against New England next Sunday.

  • Bills' Tyrell Shavers: Gets elevated

The Bills elevated Shavers to the 53-man roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Jets. Shavers will be elevated for the third time this season and first time since Week 10. Shavers reverted to the Bills' practice squad Monday. • Bills' Tyrell Shavers: Elevated for Week 10 matchup

The Bills elevated Shavers from their practice squad to their active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against Indianapolis, Chris Jenkins of Buffalo's official site reports. This will be Shavers' second elevation of the campaign. He was previously elevated in Week 5, when he tallied 16 offensive snaps without recording a target or touch against Houston. The Bills also elevated receiver KJ Hamler on Saturday. Rookie wideout Keon Coleman has been ruled out against the Colts due to a wrist injury while veteran Amari Cooper is questionable with a wrist issue of his own.

  • Tyrell Shavers: Returns to practice squad

Shavers reverted to the Bills' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log. Shavers was elevated to the active roster ahead of Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Texans, failing to record any stats while playing 16 offensive snaps and eight snaps with the special-teams unit. If Khalil Shakir (ankle) remains unavailable in Week 6, Shavers could be elevated again for the team's matchup with the Jets on Monday Night Football.

  • Bills' Tyrell Shavers: Elevated from practice squad

The Bills elevated Shavers from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Chris Brown of the Bills Radio Network reports. Despite a strong training camp, Shavers was unable to crack the Bills' initial 53-man roster, but he opted to stick around on the practice squad. Shavers will provide depth at wide receiver for Sunday's game against the Texans after top pass catcher Khalil Shakir was ruled out due to an ankle injury.

  • Tyrell Shavers: Brought back to practice squad

Shavers was signed to the Bills' practice squad Wednesday, Alec White of the Bills' official site reports. Shavers was one of the brightest performers throughout training camp and the preseason, but in the end the Bills went with experience as they filled out their five-man receiving corps with veterans Mack Hollins and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. The Bills have three receivers on the practice squad -- Deon Cain and KJ Hamler are the other two -- but Shavers likely offers the most upside as an offensive player if one of the regulars goes down in the regular season.

  • Tyrell Shavers: Cut by Bills

Shavers was waived by the Bills on Tuesday, Alec White of the team's official website reports. Shavers signed a reserve/future contract with the team in January, reeling in four receptions for 28 yards during the preseason. The wide receiver spent the entirety of the 2023 season with Buffalo's practice squad, and if he clears waivers, he will likely begin the 2024 campaign with the practice squad once again.
