Steelers' Derrick Harmon: Lands on IR
The Steelers placed Harmon (foot) on injured reserve Monday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
After exiting Thursday's 27-24 loss to the Browns due to the foot issue, Harmon's move to IR ensures that he'll be sidelined through the Steelers' Week 9 bye. While Harmon is sidelined, Yahya Black could be called upon to take on an expanded role on the defensive line alongside Cameron Heyward and Keeanu Benton.

Steelers' Derrick Harmon: Facing multi-week absence
Harmon is expected to miss multiple weeks after exiting Thursday's 27-24 loss to the Browns due to a foot injury, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
While the Steelers are confident that Harmon avoided a long-term or season-ending injury, the foot issue could be significant enough to force him to injured reserve, which would require him to miss at least four games. A 2025 first-round pick, Harmon had gotten off to a solid start to his second NFL season, racking up 12 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble through Pittsburgh's first four contests.

Steelers' Derrick Harmon: Won't return Thursday
Harmon (foot) has been ruled out from returning to Thursday's clash versus Cleveland, Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com reports.
Harmon was carted to the locker room during the first half after suffering a foot injury. He returned to the field with Pittsburgh after halftime but then went to the locker room with a trainer and was subsequently ruled out. Yahya Black is slated for more work on defense in Harmon's stead.

Harmon (foot) is questionable to return to Thursday's game against Pittsburgh, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
It's unknown exactly how or when Harmon's injury occurred. However, considering he was carted to the locker room, it isn't an ideal scenario for the Steelers defense. With Harmon off the field at the moment, Pittsburgh may mostly roll with a committee approach.

Steelers' Derrick Harmon: Unnoteworthy rookie campaign
Harmon recorded 27 total tackles (11 solo), including 3.0 sacks, while also adding a pass defensed and a fumble recovery over 12 games during the 2025 regular season.
Harmon opened the season on the sidelines after suffering a sprained MCL in late August, but he was only forced to miss two contests. The 2025 first-round pick then hit the ground running, securing seven total takedowns, including 2.0 sacks, over his first three games. Harmon then became somewhat of background character on the Steelers defense for the rest of the regular season, ultimately missing three more contests with a separate knee injury in late November and early December. The defensive lineman did leave his mark on Pittsburgh's 30-6 loss to the Texans in the wild-card round though, notching six tackles, one which was a sack. Harmon will enter the 2026 campaign looking to make a second-year leap with the Steelers.
