  Gillotte (foot) was a full participant in practice Thursday. The defensive end ruptured his plantar fascia during a drill late in training camp, but even then, the injury was not considered serious. Now, it appears that Gillotte is on track to play Week 1 against the Broncos. The 2025 third-round pick finished with 38 tackles (14 solo), including 1.5 sacks, in a rotational role as a rookie.

  Gillotte has a ruptured plantar fascia, but the injury is not considered serious, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports. The defensive end might even be able to return for Kansas City's regular-season opener against Denver on Sept. 14, per Nate Taylor of ESPN.com. Gillotte strained his hamstring during a training camp session in late July, returned a little over two weeks later and then ruptured his plantar fascia during a drill. The 2025 third-round pick recorded 38 tackles (14 solo), including 1.5 sacks, in a rotational role as a rookie.

• Chiefs' Ashton Gillotte: Nursing strained hamstring

  Gillotte suffered a strained hamstring during the Chiefs' training camp practice Friday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Whether the injury will impact Gillotte's availability for Week 1 of the regular season will depend on the severity of the strain. As long as he's sidelined, Felix Anudike-Uzomah and rookie second-rounder R Mason Thomas will be candidates to see an uptick in reps on the edge.
