Steelers' DK Metcalf: Says he's fine, no long-term concern
Metcalf (undisclosed) said Wednesday that he's "fine" and isn't concerned about his status for Week 1, Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com reports.
Metcalf has missed more than a week of practice due to an undisclosed injury, a stretch that included the Steelers' preseason opener against the Packers last Thursday. At the same time, fellow WR Michael Pittman also has been sidelined with a hamstring issue. Pittsburgh likely will continue to take a cautious approach with its top two pass catchers with the Sept. 13 Week 1 matchup with the Falcons in mind.

Steelers' DK Metcalf: Not expected to practice this week
Head coach Mike McCarthy said Saturday that Metcalf (undisclosed) will be "hard pressed to work this week" in training camp practice, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
Metcalf is working through an unspecified injury, and he joined fellow wideout Michael Pittman (leg) on the sidelines for the Steelers' preseason opener against the Packers on Thursday. It looks like both Metcalf and Pittman are facing uphill battles to return to practice this week, making it unlikely that either of them suit up for this Friday's exhibition contest against the Jets.

Steelers' DK Metcalf: Not in uniform for preseason opener
Metcalf (undisclosed) isn't in uniform for Thursday's preseason opener against the Packers, Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
The same applies to fellow WR Michael Pittman (leg), with Steelers playing it safe with their top two wideouts, as they've been managing injuries of late. Metcalf's next chance to see game action will arrive Aug. 21 against the Jets, and his absence, along with Pittman's on Thursday, will open up opportunities for those competing for depth-chart slotting and/or roster spots to see added snaps versus Green Bay.

Steelers' DK Metcalf: Dealing with unspecified injury
Metcalf is managing an unspecified injury, Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com reports.
In addition to Metcalf dealing with an injury, fellow WR Michael Pittman is also banged up, per QB Aaron Rodgers. Until added context arrives regarding the issues affecting Metcalf and Pittman, consider the Steelers' top WR duo day-to-day ahead of Thursday's preseason opener against the Packers.

Steelers' DK Metcalf: Will move around formation more
Coach Mike McCarthy said Tuesday that the Steelers will move Metcalf around the formation more in 2026, Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com reports.
Metcalf played just over 14 percent of his offensive snaps out of the slot last regular season, so perhaps the new coaching staff in Pittsburgh has a plan to get him more looks inside, which would translate to easier "layup" style catches and allow Metcalf to make plays with the ball in his hands. "We need him going," McCarthy said. "DK can change games." In his first season with Pittsburgh in 2025, Metcalf recorded a career-low 850 receiving yards on 59 catches across 15 regular-season contests. Headed into his second season with Aaron Rodgers, both players will aim for improved chemistry.
