Dustin Vaughan: Dropped from Baltimore roster
The Ravens waived Vaughan on Monday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
After a rough showing in the Ravens' preseason opener last week, Vaughan fell behind Josh Woodrum on the depth chart and will now be dropped from the roster entirely after the team signed veteran Thad Lewis to address its lack of experienced reserve options at quarterback. Given that teams still have plenty of time to reduce their training-camp rosters before the regular season arrives, Vaughan could still latch on with another organization, but even in a best-case scenario, he'll likely be viewed mainly as a candidate for the practice squad no matter where he lands.

Steelers' Dustin Vaughan: Suffers broken thumb
Vaughan has suffered a broken thumb, Mark kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
The injury likely occurred in Thursday's matchup with the Eagles. Vaughan completed 7 of 13 passes for 67 yards in the contest. The 25-year-old already figured to be a long shot at making the final roster, as he projects as the fourth string quarterback on the team's depth chart. The Steelers also signed quarterback Bryn Renner on Saturday, which does not bode well for Vaughan's chances of making the roster.

Steelers' Dustin Vaughan: Struggles in preseason opener
Vaughan completed six of 11 passes for 50 yards in Friday's preseason loss to Detroit.
Vaughan hardly looked impressive, taking three sacks and fumbing once. He is competing for a backup quarterback role with Landry Jones and Bruce Gradkowski, the latter suffering a hamstring injury after attempting just three passes.
