Fantasy News

  • Bills' Joey Bosa: Past calf injury

Bosa told reporters after Monday's practice that he has "moved on" from a calf injury that he sustained during a workout in late May, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports. Bosa has appeared in just 28 regular-season games over the past three years due to injury, with his calf issue being his latest setback. However, the veteran edge rusher is participating in training camp practices and will have the opportunity to build chemistry with the rest of the Bills' defensive front. Bosa's calf injury will be closely monitored during training camp, with the goal for him to be fully healthy for the Bills' regular-season opener against the Ravens on Sept. 7.

  • Bills' Joey Bosa: Limited reps in training camp

Head coach Sean McDermott said Wednesday that Bosa will have his training camp reps managed while working through a calf injury, Mike Moraitis of SI.com reports. "We'll have a rep plan for [Bosa] and a way to manage things to the best of our ability to try and keep him as healthy as possible," McDermott relayed to reporters before Wednesday's practice. Bosa has missed 23 regular-season games since 2022 and hasn't played more than 54 percent of snaps in a season since 2021 due to injury. The veteran defensive end could be held out of preseason games as he aims to be healthy for the Bills' Week 1 clash against the Ravens on Sept. 7.

  • Bills' Joey Bosa: Dealing with calf issue

Coach Sean McDermott said Tuesday that Bosa will not participate in offseason workouts this spring due to a calf injury, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports. McDermott said that Bosa "pulled a calf" and that he is expected to be ready for training camp in July, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN reports. The update could still be viewed as concerning for Buffalo, given Bosa has missed a combined 23 games over the past three seasons. Until he's ready for football activities again, his absence should open up more first-team reps for veteran A.J. Epenesa and rookie third-rounder Landon Jackson.

  • Bills' Joey Bosa: Heading to Buffalo

The Bills are slated to sign Bosa to a one-year contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Bosa will head to Buffalo after having racked up a combined 62.0 sacks across his nine seasons with the Chargers. He should be an upgrade on Von Miller, who is set to be released, and Bosa will join a dangerous pass-rush rotation that already features Greg Rousseau and A.J. Epenesa.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Only 5.0 sacks in 14 games

Bosa finished the 2024 regular season with 5.0 sacks among his 22 tackles (17 solo) in 14 appearances (nine starts). Bosa's days as a dominant pass rusher appear to be behind him, as he has just 14.0 sacks over the past three regular seasons while being limited to 28 appearances over that span. He tacked on a sack in the playoffs, but that wasn't nearly enough to prevent the Chargers from crashing out with a 32-12 loss to the Texans in the wild-card round. The big-name pass rusher is under contract at a cap hit of $36.47 million for 2025, but the Chargers can get out of the deal with $11.11 million in dead cap space, and LA will likely take that out given Bosa's declining production in recent years after he compiled double-digit sack totals in four of his first six seasons.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Good to go vs. Baltimore

Bosa (hip) does not carry an injury designation into Monday's game against the Ravens. Bosa opened the week with consecutive limited practices due to a hip issue, but he finished strong with a full practice Saturday. Bosa and Tuli Tuipulotu could see an increased snap count Monday if fellow edge rushers Khalil Mack (groin) and Bud Dupree (foot) are unable to play.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Limited Friday

Bosa (hip) was a limited participant in Friday's practice. Bosa played through his hip issue in the Chargers' Week 11 win over the Bengals, recording just one total tackle across a season-high 53 defensive snaps. The Ohio State product has been battling this hip issue since late September, so Friday's limited session is likely precautionary. Bosa is likely to suit up for Monday night's matchup against the Ravens unless he downgrades to no participation in Saturday's practice.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Active for Week 10

Bosa (hip) is active for Los Angeles' game against the Titans on Sunday, Kris Rhim of ESPN reports. Bosa will now play through a hip injury for the third straight week. He has racked up nine tackles (seven solo), with 2.0 sacks, and will look to add to those totals versus Tennessee.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Questionable for Sunday

Bosa (hip) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Titans. Bosa played through his hip issue in the Chargers' Week 9 win over the Browns, failing to record a stat across 18 defensive snaps. He practiced in a limited fashion throughout the week and will likely continue playing through the issue Sunday. However, if Bosa is unable to suit up, expect Bud Dupree to see increased work as the Chargers' top rotational edge rusher.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Opens week as limited participant

Bosa (hip) was a limited practice participant Wednesday. Bosa returned from a three-game absence this past Sunday against the Saints, though he played just 18 defensive snaps and did not record a tackle. The 2016 first-round pick is still working through a hip injury he picked up in Week 3 against the Steelers, so his limited practice participation to open the week is to be expected. Bosa should be good to go against the Browns on Sunday as long as he's able to practice in at least a limited capacity over the next two days.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Will play Sunday

Bosa (hip) will play in the Chargers' game versus the Saints on Sunday, Eric Smith of the team's official site reports. Bosa will make his return to the field after missing the past three games with a hip injury. In his three appearances so far this season, the 2016 first-round pick has accumulated nine tackles (seven solo), with 2.0 sacks, and he will look to increase those totals during Sunday's matchup.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Questionable, but expects to play

Bosa (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints but said after Friday's practice that he expects to play, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Bosa was a limited participant in all three practices this week while he manages a glute strain has caused pain due to pressure on his sciatic nerve. Though he anticipates playing, Bosa said that he won't be given a full workload, per Kris Rhim of ESPN.com. If that's the case, reserve edge rushers Bud Dupree and Tuli Tuipulotu could pick up more snaps than usual.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Limited in practice Wednesday

Bosa (hip) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports. Bosa has missed three consecutive games due to a lingering hip injury, so it's encouraging to see him back on the practice field. He'll work to continue improving and ultimately gain clearance to suit up Sunday versus the Saints, which will likely field rookie fifth-round pick Spencer Rattler under center.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Unlikely to play vs. Arizona

Bosa (hip) is listed as doubtful ahead of Monday's game against the Cardinals. Bosa has been bogged down with a hip injury since Week 3 against the Steelers, and it appears the 2016 first-round pick will miss his third straight game as a result. If Bosa is indeed inactive, expect Bud Dupree and Tuli Tuipulotu to see more snaps with the first-team defense Monday opposite starting edge rusher Khalil Mack.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Doesn't practice Friday

Bosa (hip) was listed as a DNP on Friday's injury report. Bosa has opened the week with back-to-back DNPs due to a hip injury he sustained in Week 3 against the Steelers. The 2016 first-round pick is in jeopardy of being sidelined for a third straight game unless he's able to practice in at least a limited capacity Saturday. If Bosa cannot play Monday against the Cardinals, Tuli Tuipulotu and Bud Dupree will compete for snaps with the first-team defense at outside linebacker opposite starter Khalil Mack.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Questionable for Sunday

Bosa (hip) logged a limited practice Friday and is questionable for Los Angeles' Week 6 matchup against Denver. Bosa hurt his hip in Week 3, and he hasn't returned to the field since. He has nine tackles (seven solo), including 2.0 sacks, to his name so far this season. A switch from DNPs to a limited practice Friday looks promising for the star pass rusher, but his final status will be revealed prior to kickoff in Denver.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Ruled out for Week 4

Bosa (hip) did not practice Friday and has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Bosa has not practiced all week due to a hip injury he sustained in Week 3 against the Steelers. The Chargers have a bye next week, so the earliest Bosa could return to action will be in the lead-up to the Chargers' Week 6 matchup against the Broncos on Oct. 13. With Bosa sidelined Sunday, Tuli Tuipulotu and Bud Dupree will both see increased snaps at outside linebacker opposite starter Khalil Mack.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Ruled out Sunday

Bosa (hip) has been ruled out for the remainder of the Chargers' game versus the Steelers on Sunday. Bosa won't return to Sunday's matchup after sustaining a hip injury during the game's first play. In his absence, Tuli Tuipulotu and Bud Dupree likely will see increased playing time.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Ready to go

Bosa (back) is active Sunday against the Panthers. Bosa closed out the week with back-to-back DNPs but that won't keep him off the field in Week 2. The Ohio State product's ability to suit up is obviously good news for the Chargers and a boost to their entire defense against Carolina.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Could play Week 2

Bosa (back) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Panthers. The 29-year-old edge rusher was unable to practice both Thursday and Friday due to a back injury, but it appears he still has a shot at suiting up Sunday. If Bosa's back issue keeps him out of the Chargers' Week 2 affair, expect Tuli Tuipulotu and Bud Dupree to see increased work with Los Angeles' first-team defense.
