Cardinals' Jacoby Brissett: Stellar numbers in Week 1 upset
Brissett completed 27 of 37 passes for 277 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions while rushing six times for 14 yards in the Cardinals' 26-14 win over the Chargers on Sunday.
Brissett helped the Cardinals set an immediate tone for a potential upset on the team's first drive of the season, when he led Arizona on an 11-play, 70-yard march that culminated with Jeremiyah Love's five-yard touchdown run. The veteran signal-caller proceeded to put together a performance highly reminiscent of several of his 2025 starts that earned him an extension this summer and the starting role to open the new campaign. Brissett connected with Trey McBride for his one touchdown pass from three yards out early in the fourth quarter, and his afternoon also included a 27-yard connection with McBride and a picturesque 33-yard rainbow down the left sideline to Marvin Harrison that was dropped in perfectly. Brissett will look to build on the stellar effort in a tough Week 2 home matchup against the defending champion Seahawks next Sunday.

Cardinals' Jacoby Brissett: Starting QB on depth chart
Brissett is listed with the first-team offense on the Cardinals' unofficial depth chart.
After Arizona released Kyler Murray in March, the team signed Gardner Minshew in free agency and then rounded out the QB room by drafting Carson Beck (ribs) in the third round of the 2026 Draft. Despite those notable additions, Brissett was expected to be the starter, and as a result he held a hold-in during the offseason program and at the starting training camp before agreeing to a revised contract with the team on July 26. Brissett made a cameo in preseason Week 1 versus the Raiders, completing all five of his passes for 44 yards and a touchdown strike to Marvin Harrison. Considering he'll have TE Trey McBride, WRs Harrison and Michael Wilson and RBs Jeremiyah Love (ankle) and Tyler Allgeier at his disposal, Brissett very well may produce like he did during his 12-game starting stint to end last season. Whether that'll be enough for Brissett to hold on to the No. 1 gig throughout the campaign is up in the air, especially with Beck waiting in the wings.

Cardinals' Jacoby Brissett: Won't play in Saturday's preseason contest
Coach Mike LaFleur said Thursday that Brissett won't suit up for Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
After a crisp preseason Week 1 in which he competed all five of his passes for 44 yards and one touchdown last Thursday at Las Vegas, Brissett will take a seat for the Cardinals' second exhibition, ceding the start to backup QB Gardner Minshew. Meanwhile, Carson Beck "most likely" won't be healthy enough to play through his rib injury, meaning Minshew and Kedon Slovis will handle signal-caller duties Saturday. After inking a reworked contract with Arizona in late July, Brissett again will lead the offense come Week 1.
