Rangers' David Davalillo: Opening season in Frisco
The Rangers optioned Davalillo to Double-A Frisco on Sunday.
Texas added Davalillo to its 40-man roster over the winter, but the 23-year-old righty is still in need of further seasoning in the minors. He'll return to Frisco to open the upcoming campaign after logging a 2.73 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 58:17 K:BB across 56 frames in the Texas League in 2025.

Rangers' David Davalillo: Lands 40-man spot
The Rangers selected Davalillo's contract from Double-A Frisco on Tuesday.
Davalillo split the 2025 campaign between High-A Hub City and Double-A Frisco, posting a dominant 2.44 ERA and 0.93 WHIP with 126 strikeouts over 107 innings between the two affiliates. His impressive season will now afford him a spot on the 40-man roster entering 2026, and he's likely to reach Triple-A Round Rock next year if he continues at his current pace.

Rangers' David Davalillo: Making strong case for 40-man spot
Davalillo has a 2.49 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 51:17 K:BB in 50.2 innings across 11 appearances for Double-A Frisco.
The 6-foot-1 Venezuelan righty gets better marks for his control and pitchability than his overall stuff, but he does boast a plus splitter to go with several other average-or-better offerings. After leading the minors with a 1.88 ERA in 2024, Davalillo logged a 2.12 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 28.5 K-BB% in 51 innings for High-A Hub City before getting promoted to Double-A on June 20. He eclipsed 100 innings for the second year in a row and will likely be added to the Rangers' 40-man roster this offseason to protect him from the Rule 5 draft.
