The lone hit Misiorowski allowed was a Cole Carrigg home run in the fifth inning. Misiorowski is still working back from a bout of arm fatigue, but he threw 59 of 83 pitches for strikes in this short but dominant performance. This is the ninth time he's logged double-digit strikeouts this season and the fourth time he's done it in fewer than six innings. Misiorowski is at a 1.58 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 185:28 K:BB through 120 innings over 20 starts. Expect the Brewers to keep his workload from getting out of hand down the stretch, but he's still a reliable fantasy option virtually every time he takes the hill. He's tentatively penciled in for a favorable road start versus the Angels in his next appearance.

Misiorowski returned from a nearly two-week absence with arm fatigue on Monday versus the Mets, allowing just one unearned run over four innings and getting lifted after just 65 pitches. The Brewers plan to closely monitor Misiorowski's workload in the second half, as he is just 26.1 innings shy of last year's total from the minors, majors and postseason combined. Manager Pat Murphy has indicated the team will "lean more towards" pulling Misiorowski early from outings rather than skipping them, per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. However, the team will also buy the hurler extra rest whenever possible, which it will do this weekend in moving Brandon Sproat ahead of Misiorowski to start Sunday. Misiorowski's next outing could come as soon as Monday in San Francisco.

Misiorowski hadn't pitched since July 7 coming into Monday, as a bout of arm fatigue resulted in him missing his final scheduled start before the All-Star break. The flamethrowing righty put up great numbers in his return to the mound against New York, yielding just an unearned run and notching 16 whiffs, but he was pulled after 65 pitches. Manager Pat Murphy said prior to the contest that the team was planning to shorten some of Misiorowski's starts in the second half, per Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and Murphy also said after the contest that the hurler was "a little bit out of it" and affected by the long layoff while also suggesting that Misiorowski didn't quite have his legs under him, according to Hunter Baumgardt of Fox Sports 920 Milwaukee. The good news is that Misiorowski's arm didn't seem to be the issue, but it sounds like the All-Star pitcher will be carefully monitored by Milwaukee moving forward.

Misiorowski will be making his first start since July 7 in St. Louis, when he struck out 11 and gave up three runs across seven innings while picking up his 10th victory of the year. It's not a major surprise that the 24-year-old got some extra time off -- his 111 innings this season is fast approaching the career high of 141.1 frames he posted between Triple-A and the majors last year including the playoffs.

The 24-year-old flamethrower is firmly in contention for the National League Cy Young Award after posting a 1.62 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 167:27 K:BB through his first 18 starts, but Milwaukee could continue to limit his workload for the rest of the season as he trends toward surpassing his career-high innings total by a wide margin.
