  • Blue Jackets' Denton Mateychuk: Good to go

Mateychuk (groin) will play in Tuesday's exhibition matchup versus Washington, per Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers.

Mateychuk will make his preseason debut after being hampered by a groin injury during training camp. He registered four goals, 13 points, 44 shots on net, 63 blocked shots and 26 hits across 45 regular-season games in 2024-25.

  • Wild's Matt Kiersted: Waived for AHL demotion

Kiersted was moved to waivers Monday to be assigned to AHL Iowa.

Kiersted had one goal and 29 points in 64 appearances with AHL Charlotte during the 2024-25 regular season before adding eight assists in 13 playoff outings. In two NHL regular-season games with Florida last year, he posted one assist, three hits and one blocked shot.

  • Ben Gleason D | DAL

Wild's Benjamin Gleason: Placed on waivers

Gleason was placed on waivers by the Wild on Monday for the purpose of assignment to AHL Iowa.

Gleason signed a two-way contract with Minnesota at the beginning of July, and he'll begin the 2025-26 campaign in the minors if he clears waivers. He made 36 appearances between AHL Lehigh Valley and AHL Bakersfield last year, totaling three goals, 15 assists and 16 PIM.

  • Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Should play Opening Night

Edvinsson (lower body) is expected to be available for the start of the regular season, according to Ansar Khan of MLive.com on Monday.

Edvinsson was on the ice as an extra during the morning skate, but he won't play in Monday's preseason matchup against Pittsburgh. He also won't be in the lineup versus Chicago on Tuesday, but it's unclear if he will play on the road against Toronto on Thursday or versus the Maple Leafs at home in Saturday's exhibition finale.

  • Hurricanes' K'Andre Miller: Sheds non-contact jersey

Miller (upper body) sported a regular jersey during Monday's practice, per Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site.

Miller was on the ice with Carolina's non-game group ahead of Monday's preseason matchup against Florida. It wouldn't be surprising if he sat out Saturday's exhibition finale against Nashville, but no confirmation on that decision has come yet. Still, the 25-year-old defender is making progress in his recovery from surgery and could be ready for the start of the 2025-26 campaign.

  • Jonas Brodin D | MIN

Wild's Jonas Brodin: Practices fully Sunday

Brodin (upper body) was a full-contact participant in Sunday's practice, per Dylan Loucks of The Hockey News.

Sunday marked the first time Brodin has taken contact in practice since undergoing surgery during the offseason. Head coach John Hynes relayed that the team will know Brodin's timeline of how much longer he will be out for later this week. The 32-year-old defenseman will probably fill a top-four role once he returns to full strength.

  • Alex Vlasic D | CHI

Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Dealing with lower-body injury

Vlasic sustained a lower-body injury during Sunday's preseason game against the Wild and is considered day-to-day, Tracey Myers of NHL.com reports.

The Blackhawks said after Sunday's game that Vlasic will be re-evaluated in the coming days. While it's encouraging that he's tentatively considered day-to-day, it's not yet clear whether his injury will impact his availability for Chicago's Opening Night matchup against Florida on Oct. 7. Vlasic appeared in all 82 regular-season games and had a career-best year during the 2024-25 campaign, racking up four goals, 26 assists, 157 blocked shots and 59 hits while averaging 23:16 of ice time.

  • Kraken's Brandon Montour: On track for opening night

Montour (ankle) is tracking well and expected to be ready for Opening Night, The Sound of Hockey reports Sunday.

Montour underwent a minor ankle procedure earlier this month, but head coach Lane Lambert is "very confident" that both he and Jared McCann will be available for the season opener. In the 31-year-old Montour's first season in a Kraken sweater, he scored a career-high 18 goals to go along with 23 assists across 81 outings while averaging 22:59 of ice time. Montour will likely play heavy minutes again this year.

  • Stars' Kyle Capobianco: Placed on waivers

Capobianco was placed on waivers by the Stars on Sunday, according to PuckPedia.

Capobianco will likely begin the upcoming season with AHL Texas, where he had a very good campaign last year. The 28-year-old had seven goals and 43 assists in 64 regular-season outings along with a plus-25 rating. He did participate in one NHL game with Dallas in 2024-25, but Capobianco is a bit deep on the depth chart to start in the NHL this year.

  • Blues' Corey Schueneman: Hits waiver wire

Schueneman was placed on waivers Sunday, per PuckPedia.

Schueneman had four goals and 20 points in 63 games with AHL Springfield during the 2024-25 regular season. If he clears waivers, he could spend most of the upcoming campaign in the minors.
