  • Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Rehabbing at voluntary workouts

Mahomes (knee) is in attendance for the start of Kansas City's voluntary workouts Monday, Dave Skretta of The Associated Press reports.

Head coach Andy Reid said Mahomes is participating in weight training and meetings as the 30-year-old QB continues to progress in his recovery from surgery undergone in mid-December to repair ACL and LCL tears in his left knee. Mahomes said in mid-January that "the goal" is "to play Week 1 and have no restrictions," but he cautioned that he "can't predict what happens throughout the process." Monday kicked off Kansas City's two-week period of strength and conditioning, after which point the team will begin limited on-field work and walkthroughs. At that stage, the extent of Mahomes' participation will be worth monitoring. Of course, the expectation is that new backup quarterback Justin Fields (knee) will operate as the Chiefs' top signal-caller for most of the offseason.

  • Jimmy Garoppolo: Considering retirement, per report

Garoppolo is reportedly considering retirement, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Garoppolo has spent the last two seasons with the Rams as Matthew Stafford's top backup, but the 34-year-old, who has 64 career regular-season starts to his credit, has yet to decide if he'll continue playing in 2026. For now, Stafford and Stetson Bennett are the QBs the Rams currently have under contract, but it's possible the team could add depth at the position at the upcoming NFL Draft.

  • Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux: Trade reportedly less likely

Following the trade of fellow key defender Dexter Lawrence, Thibodeaux (shoulder) is less likely to be moved by the Giants, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Giants have fielded trade calls regarding Thibodeaux for the last few months, but the departure of Lawrence presumably lessens the team's incentive to consider dealing Thibodeaux, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The 25-year-old was limited to 10 regular-season games in 2025, but after finishing the campaign on IR due to a shoulder injury, Thibodeaux should be past the issue well before Week 1.

  • Alec Pierce WR | IND

Colts' Alec Pierce: Recovering from ankle procedure

Colts general manager Chris Ballard said Monday that Pierce is facing roughly a three-month recovery timeframe after undergoing a "clean-up" ankle procedure, Noah Compton of SI.com reports.

Ballard noted that Pierce is expected to retake the field during training camp, which kicks off in late July, and that the team doesn't "expect any long-term implications" resulting from his ankle procedure. The only two regular-season games Pierce missed in 2025 were due to the NFL's concussion protocol, though he was briefly listed with an Achilles issue on the injury report in mid-December. Pierce re-signed with Indianapolis on a four-year, $116 million deal this offseason and faces a clearer path to targets after the team traded fellow WR Michael Pittman to Pittsburgh, though it still remains to be seen whether QB Daniel Jones (Achilles) -- who re-signed via a two-year extension in March -- will be ready to start Week 1.

  • Cowboys' Brandon Aubrey: Becomes highest-paid kicker

Aubrey agreed to terms Monday on a four-year, $28 million contract extension with the Cowboys that includes $20 million guaranteed, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Aubrey's new deal with Dallas is record-setting, and as Adam Schefter of ESPN reports makes him the first kicker in NFL history to earn $7 million annually on average. Across 17 regular-season appearances in 2025, Aubrey converted 36 of his 42 field-goal attempts and was especially clutch from 50-plus yards, going 11-for-17. The Cowboys initially assigned Aubrey a second-round tender as a placeholder to work out a long-term deal.

  • Colts' Anthony Richardson: Skipping voluntary workouts

Richardson (eye) is not participating in the start of the Colts' voluntary offseason workout program Monday, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports.

Richardson and cornerback Kenny Moore both submitted trade requests earlier this offseason and now are sitting out voluntary workouts. On Richardson's part, however, it's worth noting that GM Chris Ballard said at the annual league meeting in late March that a scenario in which the 2023 first-round pick remains in Indianapolis "definitely" exists, per Stephen Holder of ESPN.com. With the Colts having locked in Daniel Jones (Achilles) as their starter via a two-year extension, a mutual parting of ways with Richardson seems to make the most sense for both sides, but that depends on a trade partner materializing. Ballard said Monday that Richardson still is recovering from his eye injury, but "he's cleared for activity and doing everything," James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

  • Aaron Rodgers QB | PIT

Aaron Rodgers: No word yet on playing status

As the NFL Draft approaches, the Steelers have not yet received word from Rodgers regarding his plans for the 2026 season, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero report.

The report indicates that at this stage there's no expectation that the QB's decision will arrive prior to the start of the draft on Thursday. Previously, Steelers owner Art Rooney II noted that he expected an answer from Rodgers "by the draft," but for now, while Rodgers continues to mull his future, Will Howard and Mason Rudolph are the only signal-callers Pittsburgh has under contract.

  • Matt Araiza P | KC

Chiefs' Matt Araiza: Re-signs with Chiefs

Kansas City re-signed Araiza to a one-year contract Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Araiza is positioned to remain the Chiefs' punter for the 2026 campaign. He averaged 47.6 yards per punt in 2025 while suiting up for all 17 regular-season games.

  • Garrett Nussmeier: May miss 2-3 weeks for procedure

Nussmeier may undergo a minimally invasive procedure to remove a cyst on his spine, which would cause him to miss 2-to-3 weeks of the offseason program while stitches heal, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Nussmeier broke out at LSU in 2024, when he threw for 4,052 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 INTs, but he finished with just 1,927 yards, 12 TDs and five interceptions in 2025. His final collegiate campaign saw him limited to just nine games due to chest and abdominal issues as well as chronic oblique pain, which tests undergone at the NFL Combine linked to a cyst on his spine. While the 6-foot-1, 205-pound QB has been asymptomatic in recent months, it wouldn't be surprising to see him opt to address the underlying issue via a procedure and potentially make his recovery during the period between rookie minicamp and training camp. Nussmeier is frequently projected to be a mid-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

  • 49ers' Trent Williams: Agrees to extension with 49ers

Williams and San Francisco agreed to terms Monday on a two-year, $50 million contract extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Williams' extension provides him a salary reflecting his caliber of play that is more feasible than the tremendous $45.3 million number he had carried for 2026. Though he's now heading into his age-38 season, Williams is as sure a bet as exists in the league to continue operating at an elite level for the course of his new extension, which keeps him with the 49ers through 2027. HIs presence provides increased stability for the fantasy value of veteran RB Christian McCaffrey, as well as QB Brock Purdy.
