  • Robbie Chosen WR | WAS

49ers' Robbie Chosen: Starts for thin WR corps

Chosen brought in all three of his targets for 24 yards in Saturday's 30-23 preseason win over the Chargers.

Chosen started alongside Demarcus Robinson for Saturday's preseason finale with projected starters Ricky Pearsall (rest) and Jauan Jennings (calf) sitting out the exhibition. Several reserve wideouts also were nursing injuries, so the 49ers turned to the 32-year-old Chosen, who excelled in the spot start. San Francisco will be awfully thin at the WR position out of the gates with Brandon Aiyuk (knee) expected to miss several weeks, Robinson serving a three-game suspension, and Jennings iffy for Week 1. Chosen may find himself not only surviving roster cuts, but actually getting work early in the year as a backup despite being signed just three weeks ago.

  • Joaquin Davis WR | MIN

    Joaquin Davis: Waived by Broncos

The Broncos waived Davis on Sunday, Mike Klis of 9NEWS reports.

Davis signed with the team as an undrafted free agent in April but was unable to earn a spot on the final roster. The 23-year-old could wind up on the Denver's practice squad should he go unclaimed on waivers.

  • Malik Knowles: Let go by San Francisco

The 49ers waived Knowles on Sunday.

The move makes room on the 49ers' roster for Brian Robinson, who was acquired from the Commanders in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick. Knowles signed with the 49ers on Wednesday and played in Saturday's preseason finale against the Chargers, when he played one snap on special teams without showing up on the box score otherwise. He spent some time on the Packers' practice squad in 2024 but hasn't played in a regular-season game since joining the league as an undrafted free agent in April of 2023. Knowles' most likely path to signing with an NFL team is through the team's practice squad.

  • Robert Lewis WR | MIN

    Robert Lewis: Cut by Vikings

Minnesota waived Lewis on Sunday, Craig Peters of the Vikings' official site reports.

Lewis entered training camp looking to compete for a depth spot on the 53-man roster, but he played only in the Vikings preseason finale against the Titans on Friday, finishing with one catch (on three targets) for 13 yards. The undrafted rookie out of Auburn will look to catch on with a team in need of wide receiver depth, assuming he clears waivers.

  • Silas Bolden WR | HOU

    Silas Bolden: Cut by Minnesota

Bolden was waived by the Vikings on Sunday, Craig Peters of the team's official site reports.

Bolden signed with Minnesota as an undrafted free agent in late April and was competing for a depth spot during training camp. He logged one catch on three targets for three yards and added 76 yards on three kickoff returns across three preseason games. Bolden won't be part of the Vikings' 53-man roster heading into the regular season, but he'll look to join a team in need of wideout and returner depth once he clears waivers.

  • Patriots' Kyle Williams: Returns to practice Sunday

Williams, who's been out for a week with an undisclosed injury, returned to practice Sunday, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports.

Williams took a hard hit to the head during the Patriots' preseason game versus Minnesota on Saturday, Aug. 16. While the nature of his injury still is unclear, the 22-year-old missed the subsequent week of practices and was held out of the preseason finale against the Giants. Williams was selected in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he is expected to slot into a starting role at some point during his rookie season. Therefore, it will be worth monitoring his injury status leading up to New England's regular-season opener against the Raiders on Sunday, Sept. 7. Otherwise, Stefon Diggs (knee), DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins would be in the mix to start Week 1.

  • Grant DuBose WR | BUF

Grant DuBose: Let go with injury designation

The Bills waived/injured DuBose (shoulder) on Sunday.

DuBose injured his shoulder during Wednesday's training camp practice, which led to him missing Saturday's preseason finale against the Buccaneers. DuBose will go on waivers, but he'll revert to the Bills' injured reserve if he goes unclaimed, which would force him to miss the entire 2025 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with Buffalo.

  • Jacob Harris WR | TB

Jacob Harris: Cut by Tampa Bay

The Buccaneers waived Harris on Sunday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Harris dealt with a knee issue earlier this week but he was healthy enough to play in Friday's preseason loss to Buffalo, logging four offensive snaps without getting any targets as well as taking on special-teams work. However, the 2021 fourth-round draft pick ended up on the chopping block as one of several cuts Tampa Bay made Sunday. Harris hasn't played in a regular-season NFL contest since 2023, when he got into two games with Jacksonville.

  • Rakim Jarrett WR | PIT

Rakim Jarrett: Doesn't make roster cut

The Buccaneers waived Jarrett on Sunday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Jarrett played in 10 regular-season games for Tampa Bay each of the past two campaigns, and he compiled nine catches on 11 targets for 124 yards over 200 offensive snaps last year. He had been competing for a depth wideout role during camp but was one of several cuts the Buccaneers made Sunday.

  • Samori Toure WR | NO

Samori Toure: Let go by Chicago

The Bears waived Toure on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Toure played in all three preseason games and finished with five catches (on seven targets) for 72 yards. Assuming he clears waivers, the 2022 seventh-rounder will look to catch on with a team in need of depth at wide receiver. Toure last saw regular-season action in 2023 with the Packers, when he logged eight catches (on 18 targets) for 78 yards across 11 games.
