Running back Daryl Richardson, who lost playing time in the second half of the 2013 season due to a toe injury, has been cut by the Jets, per the New York Daily News.

Richardson averaged just 3.1 YPC last year before signing with the Jets in mid-May.

The Redskins have cut running backs Lache Seastrunk, Chris Thompson and Evan Royster, leaving the third spot behind Alfred Morris and Roy Helu to Silas Redd.

Royster is the most notable of the departures. But his reps have lessened in each of the last three seasons.

The Buccaneers are planning on placing rookie running back Charles Sims on IR/designated to return after undergoing ankle surgery, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

That move would allow the team to bring Sims back with fresh legs during the season.

Eagles running back Matthew Tucker left Thursday's exhibition finale against the Jets with a shoulder injury. He sustained the injury in the first half and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest, per the team's official website.

Eagles running back/return specialist Kenjon Barner suffered a left ankle injury in the first half of Thursday's preseason finale against the Bills. X-rays came back negative, and the team ruled him out for the remainder of the game.

The following players will not suit up for the Patriots Thursday night against the Giants: Brandon Bolden, Michael Hoomanawanui, Jarod Mayo, Dont'a Hightower, Chris Martin, Dominique Easley, Sebastian Vollmer, Rob Gronkowski, Chris Jones and Sealver Siliga.

Seahawks running back Christine Michael tweaked his hamstring in practice Tuesday and won't play in Thursday's preseason finale, reports 710 ESPN Radio. Coach Pete Carroll said Michael "pulled up a little bit" when he got hurt.

The Dolphins waived receivers Armon Binns and Ryan Spadola, tight end Brett Brackett, cornerback Steven Clarke, defensive end Rakim Cox, defensive tackle Cory Grissom and center Tyler Larsen. Miami also put defensive tackle A.J. Francis, running back Mike Gillislee and tight end Arthur Lynch on injured reserve, ending their seasons.

Dolphins running back Daniel Thomas has not played in the first three preseason games and knows he's in danger of getting cut, reports the Palm Beach Post. Thomas, who will play Thursday against the Rams, said he feels he has a lot to prove.

"I haven't been out there in a while," he said. "I just want to show coaches that my hamstring is good. I feel good and I'm ready to play good."

Behind Lamar Miller and Knowshon Moreno at running back, the Dolphins have impressive undrafted rookie Damien Williams. To make the team, Thomas might need Miami to keep four running backs, the paper said.

Ravens running back Bernard Pierce missed Tuesday's practice as he continues to recover from a concussion, reports ESPN.com.
