Johnson doesn't expect his two fumbles from Saturday's preseason game against Atlanta to cost him a roster spot, ESPN's Josh Weinfuss reports.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians and general manager John Keim didn't provide any assurances when asked about the situation, though Keim did refer to Johnson as "a pro's pro." The 31-year-old back doesn't have a history of fumbling issues, but the Cardinals might still consider him expendable if they believe Kerwynn Williams and Andre Ellington can handle backup work. Regardless, the team likely would deploy some sort of committee in the event of a David Johnson injury.

Elliott's appeal of his six-game suspension is scheduled to run through Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The appeal hearing started Tuesday and apparently won't end any sooner than Thursday. The arbitrator in the case, Harold Henderson, is expected to make a ruling before Week 1, though there's already talk that Elliott will challenge that ruling in a federal lawsuit unless the suspension is removed or at least significantly reduced. Should it ultimately come to a lawsuit, Elliott likely would ask the court to grant him an injunction that would allow him to play until his case was heard. He'd still have to serve the suspension immediately if the court didn't grant him an injunction.

The Buccaneers decided to waive Sims on Tuesday, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Sims was never considered a serious threat to land on the final roster, so this move was more of a formality as the team tries to trim its depth chart before final cuts. The 25-year-old will presumably clear waivers and look for an opportunity with another team.

Jones had six carries for 43 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Broncos.

Most of Jones' yardage came on a 28-yard run, but his burst on that play was notable, and it was the type of impact play that the coaching staff will not forget. Jones is on track to open the regular season in the No. 3 spot at his position on the depth chart.

O'Neal was waived Tuesday by the Bills, Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News reports.

O'Neal is a second-year tailback out of Valdosta State who appeared in the Bills' preseason on a very limited basis and was seen as a long shot to make the team's final roster.

Richardson signed a contract with the Colts on Tuesday, Mike Chappell of CBS 4 Indy reports.

Richardson, a career journeyman, appeared in three games for the Steelers last season but only carried twice for seven yards. He'll compete with Josh Ferguson and Troymaine Pope for a potential No. 4 RB gig in Indianapolis.

Toussaint had one reception for three yards against Indianapolis on Saturday before exiting with a left leg injury.

Knile Davis got the start, with Toussaint having to wait until Pittsburgh's fourth offensive possession before seeing his only touch of the game. Le'Veon Bell (groin) and rookie James Conner are 1-2 respectively on the depth chart, with Toussaint, Davis, Terrell Watson and Trey Williams all competing for roster spots. If Toussaint is cleared, each running back should have one final opportunity to impress head coach Mike Tomlin in the final preseason game Thursday against Carolina.

Gordon isn't expected to play in Thursday's preseason game at San Francisco, Eric Williams of ESPN.com reports.

The Chargers' unquestioned No. 1 back, Gordon's snap count ranged from 11-14 in the first three exhibitions, during which he notched 19 carries for 58 yards and one touchdown and reeled in one of two targets for seven yards. With nothing to gain and everything to lose before the regular season, he won't risk his health Thursday, yielding the backfield to Branden Oliver, Andre Williams and Kenjon Barner.

Dayes rushed three times for 13 yards during Saturday's preseason victory over the Buccaneers.

Though Dayes saw just three carries Saturday, he's still likely to make the team as the third running back behind Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson. Expect the rookie to see more carries in extended action during the team's preseason finale.

Magee rushed five times for 14 yards during Saturday's preseason game against the Buccaneers. He also caught two passes (five targets) for 14 yards.

Magee once again failed in comparison to teammate Matthew Dayes, as he averaged just 2.8 yards per attempt against the Buccaneers. Dayes clearly has the upper hand for the third running back spot, so Magee will most likely have to put up a big performance in the team's fourth preseason game in order to make the roster.
