Carey (wrist) was placed on injured reserve by the Bears on Saturday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The move isn't exactly surprising after Carey underwent surgery on his wrist in late August. The 25-year-old was expected to miss about six weeks and is not eligible to return from IR, since he didn't officially make the 53-man roster.

Morris was waived by the Jets on Saturday, Connor Hughes of Star Ledger reports.

The writing was pretty much on the wall for Morris after he only saw four special teams snaps during the Jets' preseason finale. His usage throughout preseason saw a steady decline, rendering this decision unsurprising.

The 49ers are placing Williams (ankle) on injured reserve, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com reports.

This doesn't necessarily mean the injury is serious; the 49ers may just be glad to keep their 2017 fourth-round pick without having to use a spot on the 53-man roster. Initially hyped as a candidate to earn a major role, Williams struggled with ball security and learning the offense throughout training camp and the preseason, while undrafted rookie Matt Breida proved to be a quick study. Breida presumably will enter the season as Carlos Hyde's top backup, with Raheem Mostert holding the No. 3 spot on the depth chart. Williams is still an intriguing asset in dynasty leagues, as Hyde can become a free agent after the season.

Redding was let go by the Chiefs on Saturday, Terez A. Paylor of KansasCity.com reports.

With Kareem Hunt, Charcandrick West and C.J. Spiller pretty much sure things for the final roster, Redding never figured to have much of a chance making it through final cuts. He seems primed for a practice squad role, and could be moved up to the regular roster should any of the aforementioned get hurt.

The Redskins waived Jones on Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The writing has been on the wall for Jones' time in Washington since he was deemed a healthy scratch from Week 8 onward last season. At the very least, the Redskins will keep Rob Kelley, Chris Thompson and Samaje Perine around to power the ground game in 2017. Now subject to waivers, Jones has averaged 3.9 YPC and hauled in 27 of 33 targets across 20 career appearances, so it shouldn't surprise if he finds a new home in the near future.

The Buccaneers waived McNichols on Saturday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Late in the preseason, head coach Dirk Koetter hinted that McNichols wasn't a lock for the 53-man roster to start the season, primarily due to "too many mistakes on offense," per Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times. Due to the investment made in him as a fifth-round pick this year, the Buccaneers may be attempting to sneak McNichols onto the practice squad, especially after an exhibition season in which he averaged just 3.3 YPC and failed to gather in either of his targets. If he remains in Tampa Bay, he'll be a candidate for activation from the practice squad during Doug Martin's three-game suspension to begin the season, assuming injuries take a toll.

The Bills will release Johnson on Saturday, his agent Brett Tessler announced.

Johnson couldn't make the team as a local boy even though he looked good in the preseason finale, as the Bills will ultimately keep two fullbacks, meaning there will only be room for 3-4 running backs. Joe Banyard and maybe even Taiwan Jones look to have beaten out Johnson.

Davis was released by the Steelers on Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Davis evidently lost out to both Terrell Watson and Trey Williams in the fight for a potential No. 4 RB gig in Pittsburgh. He's now eligible to sign elsewhere.

Stevenson's candidacy for a roster spot seemed to be nonexistent during the preseason finale, so his failure to make the team isn't a surprise. If he clears waivers, he'll be free to sign elsewhere.

Atkinson has missed the cut for the Raiders' 53-man roster, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Atkinson was claimed by the Raiders in July, but he couldn't make enough noise during training camp to avoid the pink slip. He will now hit the open market if unclaimed through waivers.
