Melvin Gordon RB | BAL
Chargers' Melvin Gordon: Scores in Week 1 loss
Gordon rushed 18 times for 54 yards and caught five of his six targets for 25 yards and a touchdown during Monday's loss to Denver.
It's difficult to critically judge Gordon's performance because of how strong the Denver defense looked for the majority of Monday's game. He showed tackle-breaking ability on a number of carries but also got wrapped up at and behind the line a handful of times. It's definitely important to note that Gordon fared well in the passing attack, which is an encouraging sign for PPR owners. Overall, considering this was a daunting on-paper matchup, Gordon's status as a go-to running back remains intact following a solid Week 1 showing.

C.J. Anderson RB | LAR
Broncos' C.J. Anderson: Rushes 20 times for 81 yards in win
Anderson rushed 20 times for 81 yards and caught one of three targets for seven yards during Monday's win over the Chargers.
The 26-year-old back showed promising burst and hit the holes provided to him well early on. Anderson doubled Jamaal Charles' rushing attempts, so it's clear that Anderson is the lead back. While Charles also ran well (10 attempts for 40 yards), he also fumbled in the fourth quarter. It's worth noting that Anderson had a red-zone touchdown run called back because of an illegal-shift penalty, too. His fantasy value is on the rise with so many committee backfields around the league, and the Denver offense showing well for the majority of Monday's game. Charles' costly fumble also strengthens Anderson's stranglehold of top position on the depth chart.

Dalvin Cook RB | DAL
Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Dazzles in NFL debut
Cook rushed 22 times for 127 yards and caught three of five targets for 10 yards in Monday night's win over the Saints.
Cook's impact grew as the game unfolded, with the rookie ripping off two runs of over 30 yards during the fourth quarter. In doing so, he provided the type of big-play running threat the Vikings sorely lacked following Adrian Peterson's injury last season. While Peterson watched Minnesota's running game revival from the opposing sideline, Cook proved plenty deserving of his old job going forward. In fact, the Vikings' next two running backs, Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon, garnered just five carries combined. While McKinnon matched Cook's catch total and finished with 22 more receiving yards, the second-rounder put together one of the best tailback performances of Week 1. Next up, he'll look to find the end zone while sustaining his success versus the Steelers.

Dwayne Washington RB | DEN
Lions' Dwayne Washington: Logs six carries in Week 1
Washington carried six times for 22 yards and returned two kickoffs for 31 yards during Sunday's 35-23 victory over the Cardinals.
With Zach Zenner a healthy scratch, Washington was the No. 2 between-the-tackles runner for Detroit on Sunday. Although he didn't gain much ground on his attempts, neither did starter Ameer Abdullah (15 carries for 30 yards), as the Cardinals' stout defense allowed very little room to run. Unfortunately, things won't be any easier in Week 2, as the Lions travel to New York to take on a Giants defense that ranked third against the run in 2016.

Joe Bacci RB | TEN
Joe Bacci: Reaches injury settlement
Bacci (undisclosed) and the Titans will officially part ways after both parties reached an injury settlement Monday, Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com reports.
After going undrafted, Bacci signed with the Titans in May. He was hampered by an undisclosed injury during camp, and ultimately ended up on the team's injured reserve. He will now be able to find a new opportunity once he regains his health.

Thomas Rawls RB | JAC
Seahawks' Thomas Rawls: Expected to return Sunday
Head coach Pete Carroll expects Rawls (ankle) to return to action Sunday versus the 49ers, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Rawls was held out of Sunday's loss at Green Bay, despite handling every Week 1 practice rep. With a seal of approval from Carroll, a setback is likely Rawls' only hurdle to suiting up in Week 2, during which he'd be a prime candidate to be the starting running back. Backing up such sentiments are the breakdown of snaps in the backfield Sunday. Undrafted rookie Chris Carson handled 26 of 49 offensive snaps, followed by 16 for C.J. Prosise and seven for offseason signing Eddie Lacy. The presence of Rawls could very well push each player down the pecking order at the position.
-
Matt Dayes RB | NO
Browns' Matt Dayes: Serves as backup running back Sunday
Dayes rushed three times for seven yards during Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Steelers. He also added two catches on two targets for nine yards.
With Duke Johnson playing exclusively from the slot Sunday, Dayes served as Isaiah Crowell's backup running back, though his five total touches failed to inspire any optimism going forward. According to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal, Johnson will still see snaps out of the backfield, which will ultimately limit Dayes' usage and overall fantasy value.

Andre Ellington RB | TB
Cardinals' Andre Ellington: Increased workload imminent
Ellington is in line for an increased workload due to the likely upcoming absence of David Johnson (wrist), Bob McManaman of The Arizona Republic reports.
Head coach Bruce Arians confirmed the nature of Johnson's injury Monday, stating he has a dislocated left wrist. Rookie running back T.J. Logan is currently recovering from surgery on the same ailment, which requires an 8-12 week rehab process. In the meantime, Kerwynn Williams has already been named the feature RB, but his lack of pass-catching chops places Ellington in an intriguing position. During his 20-snap stint Sunday in Detroit, Ellington hauled in two of three passes for 35 yards, which lines up with his 68-percent career catch rate.

D'Onta Foreman RB | CLE
Texans' D'Onta Foreman: Could take on larger role
Texans coach Bill O'Brien said Foreman will be more involved Thursday against Cincinnati, Drew Dougherty of the team's official site reports.
Even with Alfred Blue (ankle) sidelined, Foreman had just one carry for four yards while playing two snaps in Sunday's 29-7 loss to the Jaguars. He should be a bit more involved if Blue misses another game, but Sunday's usage suggests O'Brien doesn't really trust the rookie. Lamar Miller played 64 of 79 offensive snaps in Sunday's contest and was still in the game during garbage time, while Tyler Ervin handled some passing downs and also took snaps as a receiver.

Kerwynn Williams RB | KC
Cardinals' Kerwynn Williams: Set for feature role
Head coach Bruce Arians said Monday that Williams will serve as the No. 1 running back during David Johnson's (wrist) upcoming absence, Bob McManaman of The Arizona Republic reports.
Pending a second opinion on his dislocated left wrist, Johnson is tending to the same injury as rookie RB T.J. Logan, which was accompanied by an 8-12 week recovery timeline after surgery. If the preceding comes to pass, Williams is slated for a significant bump in relevance and should be able to uphold his end of the bargain. During brief stints with the Cardinals the past three campaigns, Williams averaged 5.6 YPC and scored four touchdowns on 98 rushes. Because he cannot mimic Johnson as a pass catcher, Andre Ellington will likely be the preferred option on third down and obvious passing situations.
