Breida was limited at Wednesday's practice due to a knee injury, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Per Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee, Breida wore a blue no-contact jersey at Wednesday's practice but nonetheless looked like he was on track to play in Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Should Breida end up missing time, Raheem Mostert likely would step in as Carlos Hyde's top backup. Assuming this knee injury isn't serious, it will be interesting to see if Breida gets more work as the 49ers shift their focus toward talent evaluation in the second half of the season. Hyde is a known commodity who can hit unrestricted free agency in the offseason.

Ellington (quadriceps) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic reports.

Absent from the Cardinals' last game Oct. 22 versus the Rams in London, Ellington hasn't been able to ditch his quad injury, despite having a Week 8 bye to focus entirely on rehabilitation. He's proven susceptible to injury throughout his four-plus years in the NFL, so Ellington's status will be one to watch as the week continues. No matter if he's able to suit up Sunday at San Francisco, Adrian Peterson is expected to receive most of the snaps out of the backfield, keeping Ellington and the remaining running backs in the shadows.

Barner (hamstring) practiced fully Wednesday.

Barner has been available for each of the Eagles' past five outings, but his special-teams snaps (49) have outpaced those on offense by two. As a result, he's totaled 12 carries for 34 yards and three catches (on four targets) for 20 yards on the season. Following the addition of Jay Ajayi via trade Tuesday, Barner is now in danger of being a regular on the inactive list, if he's not cut outright.

The Raiders signed Hood to their practice squad Wednesday, Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Oakland had previously promoted Hood to the active roster during Marshawn Lynch's (suspension) absence for the Week 8 win over the Chiefs, waiving the rookie shortly after the contest. Now back with the organization, Hood will likely remain on the practice squad unless one of Lynch or fellow running backs Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington are forced to miss action down the road.

West (calf) didn't practice Wednesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.

West is thought to be inching closer to a return, according to Zrebiec, but his absence Wednesday isn't the most encouraging sign for his Week 9 status. Alex Collins and Javorius Allen will likely continue to lead the team's backfield Sunday against the Titans.

Kelley (ankle) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, Master Tesfatsion of The Washington Post reports.

The Redskins were deliberate with Kelley's 12 offensive snaps Sunday against the Cowboys, giving him eight carries, one of which he turned into his first touchdown of the season. Meanwhile, Chris Thompson handled the remaining 47 snaps on offense. Washington's backfield has a clear pecking order at the moment, but Kelley should continue to have a small role in the offense Week 9 against the Saints, health permitting.

The NFLPA requested a stay from the Second Circuit court Wednesday to allow Elliott (suspension) to play Sunday against the Chiefs, Kate Hairopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.

The move is a last-ditch effort to give Elliott a chance to be on the field Week 9 while the appeal of his six-game suspension is heard by the Second Circuit. As everything lines up at the moment, though, the Cowboys are preparing for life without Elliott, as Alfred Morris received the first snaps with the first-team offense at Wednesday's practice, per Todd Archer of ESPN.com. Behind Morris, Darren McFadden and Rod Smith are also expected to have roles out of the Cowboys backfield.

The NFLPA is expected to file an emergency motion with the Second Circuit on Wednesday to appeal Elliott's six-game ban, which was reinstated Monday after a federal judge rescinded a temporary restraining order on the suspension, according to Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com.

The emergency motion likely amounts to a final effort by the NFLPA to overturn Elliott's suspension, with a ruling on that front expected to arrive by Friday. Even if Elliott is granted the legal injunction he's seeking, a suspension still wouldn't necessarily be off the table, as Breer notes that a larger case regarding the matter would continue to play out at the district-court level. Elliott would still be able to continue playing in that scenario, but at this time, he's tentatively in line to miss Sunday's game against the Chiefs and the Cowboys' subsequent five contests. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said earlier this week that Alfred Morris would serve as the team's starting running back if Elliott is indeed out Sunday, with Darren McFadden and Rod Smith also taking on enhanced roles in the offense.

Oliver ran for three yards on three carries in Sunday's 21-13 loss to New England.

Oliver, fresh off a hamstring injury, didn't do much in limited opportunities on Sunday. The fourth-year back has seen more than four touches in just one of five outings thus far this season. He seems firmly stuck as Los Angeles' third back behind Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler with just five offensive plays on Sunday.

Elliott's request for a stay of Monday's decision from district judge Katherine Failla was denied Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The first order of business by the NFLPA seemed like a long shot anyway, so Elliott's reps have moved on to an appeal in the Second Circuit, per Kate Hairopoulos of The Dallas Morning News. There's no telling when Elliott will be given another hearing at this stage, but his six-game suspension remains in place. In the meantime, the Cowboys will rely on Darren McFadden, Alfred Morris and Rod Smith to man the backfield.
